Yeah, I hadn't heard anything about that either. I've seen the graffiti reports etc and I saw something about some girl who has been warned to stay away from Göteborg between Xmas and New Years Day as there is something planned. Apparently she was warned by someone who "knows" ISIS and their plans as she had been nice to the guy. Hopefully it's just the usual nonsense, as me and the missus are booked in for New Years Eve at Gothia Towers!
The girl story was a Facebook viral fake according to local news.

I think you will have a nice evening in the Gothia Towers, we are going to Smögen for New Years :-)

That's good to hear, I'll let the missus know, hopefully she will relax properly.

I spent a couple of days in Smögen over the summer, hopefully it's not raining and it will be a brilliant place for New Years!

Not quite sure what to make of that.

My money is on right wingers stirring st up. Just reads like it's written by someone who's faked spelling errors. Some Norwegian thrown in for good measure too.

Metro seems to think it's people stirring things up, rather than a genuine threat:

As an example from my town, a month or so ago a student accommodation (a block of flats), probably like the one your OHs sister is living in, evicted all residents with short notice, it is now used as a refugee centre. Immigration services pay more rent than students, by the looks of it.
Speak of the devil...

"Religion och ursprung är en annan källa till bråk. Det är konflikter mellan afghaner och araber, mellan shia- och sunnimuslimer, kristna tar av sig krucifix de brukar bära runt halsen för att undvika bråk."

"Religion and origin are another source of conflicts. There are conflicts between Afghans and Arabs, between Shia and Sunni Muslims, Christians takes off their crucifix they usually wear around the neck to avoid trouble."

Violence has become an everyday occurrence at the former student accommodation, now refugee centre. Apparently it's because there are too many residents, strange how there were never any problems when students lived there.

Reminiscing about the lunacy that was Owens Park/ Rusholme in the early '90's , one pissed up lunatic used to regularly try and torch the lifts in the tower, just student high jinks.

There aren't any students left there. Unless you include precociously mature unaccompanied children.

The strangest thing I find about the new immigrants/asylum seekers (they're very noticeable in a small town) is how they are incapable of going anywhere on their own. In ICA they mill around in groups of at least 3 but up to about 8, even though it's only one of them doing the shopping, sometimes just for a drink or a couple of small items.

I concur, there is also no effort by them to integrate at all.

Tonight I did the usual boring task of strutting down to Systembologet to get some grog for the weekend, I passed 3 or 4 Eastern European beggars on the way!! FML Additionally I passed perhaps 2 or 3 groups of males who I can only think are maybe Syrian refugees, of course they can be from anywhere, but their behavior was gang like and I on my own was not really feeling so safe. Why can they not sit indoors and socialise instead of on the street! If this is what Sweden is turning into I think there are some grim days ahead.

My wife is so calm and relaxed normally, but the general language and terms she is using to describe how she feels about her very own homeland is worrying, this only started a bit earlier this year so I can only think events in Tunisia and Paris have worn her down. Very sad for a little town in the middle of nowhere :-(

I think the UK is dealing with this situation very well compared to countries like Sweden! Be happy you have David Cameron

To be fair, I experienced exactly that feeling, including just knowing I was being insulted (in Polish) as I walked past two gurning, cocky scumbags seated aimlessly on a wall, as I walked into the centre of Southampton from one of the grottiest Travel Lodges ever, several years ago. And that doesn't include the massive horse drawn traffic stopping Gypsy funeral corteges on the way back!

Whatever ails Stockholm I'd take it over Southampton any day!

Yes, I wouldn't say I find them intimidating, but I grew up in London, so maybe my tolerances are a bit higher than others. I just find it incredibly annoying when you can't get past a big group of them when they're blocking access to the fridge that has got the Julmust I want to buy and saying excuse me just renders blank stares. My missus certainly doesn't like walking past them on her own, though, and I understand why it would be worse for a woman. Luckily we have just the one beggar outside ICA in our town, there was one outside Netto but she seems to pop up every now and then, the one outside ICA is there like shift work.

The main thing that makes me wonder is how the hell they will do anything here that is productive? They don't speak Swedish, from what I've heard of a few is that their English is ok, but not great, and in my town we don't have any train links to a big town or city, it's a 20 minute bus and then a 20/25 minute train to get to Göteborg. All there is here is two supermarkets, a Systembolaget, about 7 hairdressers and the same amount of kebab shops/pizzerias.

It's not a long wait between Julmust and Påskmust, but the wait over the summer from Påskmust leaving to Julmust coming back in October was torture!

Haha, happy days! That's nicer than the Apotekarnes one, too.

I'm doing my first Julbord this year, missus is helping with the meatballs but I'm doing the rest.

Can't get excited about Julmust, seems to taste like something from the dentist! But Julbord is happening this year and I am also doing a "British" Christmas Day lunch for my Swedish family, they go crazy for Bisto and the stuffing balls, it is quite fun to watch them scoff it all down!
