Everyone relax, Trump's people are already walking back the debate thing, saying it was "just a joke".........
Which particular Trump comment are you referring to? Goodness knows there are many of them.

Stealing money from veterans? Oh I think people really do care about that. They won't care that Trump is a draft dodger but "veterans" are revered beyond almost anyone else in modern America.
Like many things, it is superficial. I understand how foreigners might have trouble figuring this out. I still have my own moments here in Germany now.

Wow, you really are cynical about your fellow Americans. hehe

I'm naieve, I believe that most people are basically decent. My faith is being tested by the number who think that voting for a racist bigot who thinks nothing of lying and conning his fellow man out of his life savings with a Ponzi scheme though.......

I do agree that there is a lot of hypocricy about veterans. People will profess love for them but ask them to pay more tax to build them decent VA hospitals and the answer is a little different.

If he's challenged on it he will just deny it. He'll say he's donated thousands/millions/billions to veterans. He'll say it very loudly until everybody gets bored.

I was on my way out when I posted and didn't spot that. It's naïve of me to think I would get away with it. Some knave lurking in the nave was bound to spot it.

Explain what makes him a racist? Or is his experience of Mexicans/Muslims seen as racism?

Lying/conning people - that's an American sport surely? Has Hilary never lied/conned people - perhaps also out of money?

I assume you donate a percentage of your income for Veterans

He could just do a Trump - say he's donating, but never actually bother doing it.

My point is that veterans are perceived and portrayed as being beyond reproach, any discernible abuse of them plays very poorly in the media and with the public in general, even if in private people don't care quite as much as they pretend in public. Vets are also a pretty vocal (and large) group and they have some very articulate and media friendly spokespeople like Alexander McCoy.

It's cringeworthy how cloying the adverts on US tv are; everyone from car insurance and estate agents to airlines all trying to cash in on showing how earnestly respectful they are. Ech

And my point is that privately, no one cares. Hence, no one really cares and the story will fade.

Because she's still fighting Sanders. Ignore the polls, they're meaningless until after the conventions.

hehe

Unrep's clear love for HRC is verging on the psychotic.

Part of me dearly wants Trump[f] to win, just see if he goes into a virtual apoplectic sulk on here!

I too like the idea of him winning, out of perverse curiosity more than anything else.
