Haha, is that the guy that thingy does from the Daily Show (the Everyday Programme ) as a 'Southern Gentleman'?
That's the one. He has a very exaggerated southern accent. Jon Stewart does him real well, John Oliver less so...http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/27/jon-stewa...

That first one was fking hilarious. Stewart does him so well (Oliver is crap. )..I can't see how he can be taken seriously after that. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/27/jon-stewa...

So who on here is actually eligable to vote for the US President?
Good point Gavin. I'm not but I'm married to someone who does and I do pay all my taxes here. I do contribute modestly to campaigns and my wife worked the phones for Obama and others as a volunteer in '12.
I may do citizenship at some point just so I can vote.
Rick's in! Former Texas governor Rick "Oops" Perry is having another go at winning the GOP nomination. Bungling Rick, 65, is best known for declaring during a debate in 2012 that he was going to abolish three departments. Only problem was he couldn't remember which three!
Rick will bring some entertainment to the race as he is a gaffe prone idiot who's not afraid to make a fool of himself (which is a good job!).

Bernie's the flag carrier for the left, the male Elizabeth Warren. He's a good guy but he's not in the race to win, he's there to push Hillary to the left. There are 4 dems now, none of the other 3 should trouble Hillary but they will test her which is a good thing.

Even if you are overseas, a US citizen can still vote via absentee ballot.
OH, will do some googling and see wassup, BUT the IRS might find out what I'm up to... I have family and friends who live and work in the states and are long term green card holders - it used to surprise me that they wouldn't apply for full citizenship despite being eligible for this however for anyone with a home or work/business interests elsewhere in the world I suppose a green card>full citizenship.

The US tax laws on worldwide income are very harsh. Boris Johnson sold his house in London a few years back and no UK capital gains tax was due because it was his main residence yet because he was also an American citizen the IRS wanted him to pay tax on the profit he made. He then decided to relinquish his US citizenship but they wouldn't let him until he paid the bill so he reluctantly paid.

Thats the tip of the iceberg. You don't even need to be American, you just need to be a 'US Person', which means if you're in the US any part day this year, plus a 1/3 of the days from last year plus 1/6 of the days the year before over 183 days then all rules apply to you. I have an English friend who lives in the Caribbean whose young daughter has been having chemo in the US for the last 3 years. Fvcking nightmare. The taxes arn't even the biggest headache and they are a massive headache; foreign asset reporting is even more onerous. Even your friends avoiding citizenship will now be subject to the Expatriation tax should they ever leave! Jeb "I'm not as stupid as my brother George honest guv" Bush will officially announce today. He's likely to be the GOP front runner although he's obviously handicapped by the association with his dim witted cretin of a brother. Expect the other 15 or so deadbeats in the GOP race to gang up on him early to try and stop his momentum.

Only if they catch you! He's in, The Donald is running for President.
This helps to seal the fate of the GOP primaries as a circus and a joke. The thing is Trump genuinely believes that he is a genius and is the best person to lead the free world. The debates should be hilarious.
It's good news for Carly Fiorina anyway. She may not come last now.
