Unrepentant will no doubt be able to explain all that away.

Hello. PH's resident Yank here, again.

By no means does Trump have it "in the bag."

He won't be getting the Black vote, the Hispanic vote, the women's vote, the young vote, the evangelical Christian vote or the loyal Democratic vote. I'm here to inform all of you there simply aren't enough old, angry, white male bigots to cancel-out the votes of all the people who are staunchly against Trump. The Archie Bunker (the American Alf Garnett) types are being overwhelmed by shifting demographics and their numbers just aren't enough to carry Trump to victory in November.

A Clinton vs. Trump race will be a landslide win for Clinton. That's why the GOP leadership are sh!tt!ng themselves right now! They may as well change their party's symbol from an elephant to a dinosaur because the Republican Party is about to go extinct.
What about:

Archie Bunkers

+

Mischievous scamps

??

Would that be enough to continue the show? Surely there's a goodly number of mischievous scamps who want to see what happens?

Trump's no more bonkers than Cruz, but he's better TV.
Do you really think there are enough so-called "mischievous scamps" to counter the votes of all the people I mentioned above? That's not going to happen. Trump has thus far garnered votes from only a plurality of registered Republicans. He's going to get slaughtered in the general election and the RNC leadership know it, which is why they're in full-blown panic mode right now.

If Trump gets to 1237 delegates and becomes the GOP nominee, I can guarantee the bible-thumpers will stay home on election day. They make up at least a third of the Republican's core support and they can't stand Trump because they see him as a "New York Liberal." So, if these Jesus Freaks don't go to the voting booth, not only are they not voting for president, they're also not voting for senators and representatives, either. And in some states, they'll also not be voting for governors and state assemblymen. The upshot of this is the Democrats will hold onto the White House, re-take Congress and flip a number of state houses across the country from red to blue.

No amount of "Mischievous Scamps" will change that.
no, I didn't really.

The content at that site is as bad as Trump may not be.

One of the lies is said to be this trumpism "I was totally against the war in Iraq, saying for many years that it would destabilize the Middle East."

The reason given is "Maybe he kept this to himself"

Maybe he didn't publish his thoughts and said it to friends and associates. This sounds like the typical Left approach of knowing what their victim thinks better than their victim. If there are no prior counter-statements from Trump then there's no basis for the 'lie' claim. If there are counter-statements then by all means nail him on them.

Another so-called lie from Trump is "The Trump Winery near Charlottesville, Va. is the 'largest winery on the East Coast' " It may or may not be but it's got nothing to do with the campaign. In addition the trumpist claim is actually "the largest vinifera vineyard on the East Coast" so why omit 'vinifera' unless it's a deliberate device. This makes the site look dodgy itelf whether it is or not.

The vinefera claim is simply to distinguish between a vineyard used to grow grapes for wine and one where the grapes are used for raisins (something Florida's fairly well known for..)

How many of their 'pants on fire' claims about Trump are untrue then?

The first example I gave may be true or untrue, the reason given isn't adequate either way. I didn't get the chance to look at Pants On Fire as there were enough dodgy claims before that point.

It's up to the website to provide compelling evidence for its claims and they're not doing too well. As Trump is a politician he will be just like all the rest, but to nail him they need to do better with their reasons.

I'll apply your logic to any Brexit publication which claims we give £350million a week to the EU and completely ignore the rest of that document as that one fact is inaccurate..

The chances are I'll have beaten you to it.

You can see from the comments made that I don't have a one-sided view of Trump or his statements. I've acknowledged that the first example I gave may be true, or not, but the evidence given for it being untrue is inadequate.

It's good to meet another PHer who needs convincing by seeing more than half-baked guff.

That's awesome. There have only been numerous occasions when GDP change (change is what Trump was referring to) was in negative territory since 1950 alone. Surely he lost enough in the GFC to remember it...then again, based on the above, maybe not enough.

My favourite is his claim that no one has ever won 66 out of 67 Florida primaries - I guess going back all the way to 1996, 2000 or 2004 to check facts was too difficult for him - http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2016/...

GDP has never ever been below zero. It's a physical impossibility. The lowest it could be is...zero.

Rate of change of GDP could be negative. That is a recession. There have been several times in U.S. History when the economy has been in recession. But it is not currently in recession.

In fact, the economy has done reasonably well under Obama. The last quarter showed positive GDP growth.

Yet people continue to lap up his bullst without complaint.....

He lies so often and his supporters seem to take it at face value. So why would he change his MO?
