Jindal was born in Baton Rouge. He's as American as anyone else.
I stand corrected - I thought he moved to the US as a youngster.
He wouldn't be eligible for the presidency unless he was a natural born US citizen.

United States Constitution: Article II, Section I, Clause V:

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Because Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he is a natural born US citizen.

You may recall the so-called "Birther" movement; the mouth-breathing knuckle-draggers and tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theorists who cling to the fantasy that Barack Obama wasn't a natural born US citizen and dispute the veracity of Obama's State of Hawaii birth certificate. The thing is, even if Obama wasn't born on US soil, it wouldn't make a bit of difference due to Obama's mother being a US citizen. If at least one parent is a US citizen, then the child of that parent is also a citizen.

Former presidential candidate John McCain was born in Panama to American parents. Current candidate Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Yet there is no fake outrage directed towards either of them. I'm sure I don't have to explain why.

But Panama was an American protectorate at the time of Mcains birth.

The good news about The Donald is that he's sucking the life out of the republican primary campaign. Anyone know what Jeb or Walker or any serious candidate thinks about what's happening in China or Greece? Nope, because the media isn't interested now they have the show pony rent a quote Trump to report on. Watching Trump is like watching a car crash and the media will be right there.

It's great for those of us on the right to hear someone smash a hole through the politically correct barrier put up by the MSM.

Trump is totally unapologetic. He speaks plainly and doesn't back down, weazel or apologise like every other politician. It's very refreshing.

Leftists HATE him for failing to follow their rules. The vitrol they pour upon him is very revealing.

Trump's an idiot, his own party find him cringeworthy. He talks in sound bites that don't stand up to scrutiny, he's little more than a carnival barker, a freakshow. Scott Walker, a politician who stands a decent chance of being the nominee, has entered the race today unnoticed because of all the attention that the clown is getting.

The left love him because he's making the GOP race a sideshow, long may he stay in.

You say you're on the right? The right of what?

The GOP have kowtowed to political correctness. That's why they cringe at Trump. They don't realise that as long as they follow PC rules, the Left are setting the agenda. Both the GOP and the Dems are in maximum smear mode. Trump makes them look like the cowards that they are.

You might see Trump as an idiot, a carnival barker and a freakshow, but he's done well for himself outside of politics, unlike so many other politicians.

That's what you think from your vantage point in Southampton is it? wink

Your completely wrong. Where's the cowardice, Trump's comments were incendiary but also completely false. He's just plain wrong. The GOP hasn't smeared him, they haven't reacted at all to him really. Priebus asked him to tone it down but most of the GOP leaders are ignoring him because eventually he'll go away and they don't want to get into a no win argument with a moron. The dems are loving him because he highlights the bigoted ignorance that lies beneath the surface of a lot of republicans. They're happy for him to be in the media because every appearance he makes reminds people why they shouldn't vote for the GOP. He's a subject of ridicule in the media, apart from FOX of course.

You can argue that Trump has done well for himself. He did inherit a large real estate compnay from his father though and managed the business so badly that he was on the brink of personal bankruptcy at one time. He's a self promoting braggart for whom the chickens are coming home to roost as most of his business partners are now seeking to put as much distance between them and him as possible.

Pretty standard leftist amear.

Lots of Americans are worried about illegal immigration BTW. I'm sure you see them as racists and bigots and that is your prerogative. Trump is the only candidate to speak forcefully on the subject. His line is that the law is the law and once the country stops enforcing it, it ceases to be a country. Seems fair enough to many people but it's an issue every other politician is terrified to address.

I'm not sure why I'm not allowed an interest and in US politics just because I'm English. Do you have any arguments that don't boil down to character assassination and insults?

In news more relevant to the US election campaign, Scott Walker has officially entered the race.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/electi...

Walker is the candidate that I would be most worried about if I were the other 15 GOP contenders. He has poor approval numbers in his own state but he did smash the unions there and survive a recall election. He speaks well and will appeal to a good cross section of republican voters.

If they're not then Trump will not capitalise on his policy. The point is that the left had placed an embargo on even talking about illegal immigration. Trump has broken that restriction, which is a good thing for democracy.

It's the U S of A for christ sake - loony left right and centre!
I mean a third Bush (never mind one in the hand) - wow only in America I recon.
The only potential candidate that has ANY credibility at all is Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (mind you what the hell were her parents on when passing out the names?).

Donald Trump was born into literally hundreds of millions of dollars. He's no rags to riches story.

And watching that interview was PAINFUL.
The guy is a caricature of all that is wrong with the US right. Just no intellect. Black and white answers. Born into privilege, buying his way into politics, thinks "celebrity" somehow qualifies him for running the country! Good grief.

Watching this guy, I feel embarrassed for the American people.

Sorry mate but you're talking nothing but utter and complete bks. I don't know where you get your info from but it's all garbage.

For starters "The Left" basically don't exist in the USA, the democrats are pretty much to the right of the tories on most issues. Secondly far more illegal immigrants have been deported under Obama than ever were under Bush. Thirdly, far from any "embargoes" on talking about illegal immigration it has been front and center for the past 4 years amongst all parties. Have you not heard about the amnesty bills and the president's executive action on amnesty for children of illegals? You didn't know that the DHS has trained thousands of new officers to enforce new policies on immigration? You haven't heard Rubio and Bush and Jindal and Hillary talk about immigration?

Well yes, there's been lots of talk of amnesty but not much talk of enforcing the borders. I've read that Bush has emerged as pro-amnesty. That effectively ignores the rule of law. That's quite something for a supposed right winger. More like something you'd expect from the internationalist left, who don't believe in the concept of the nation state.

The are lots are Democratic controlled (sanctuary) cities that are violating federal law by turning a blind eye to illegal immigrants. You'd think that would be worth talking about, no?

As for the left not existing in the US? Really? The MSM and education are pretty entrenched in leftism no? Do you think Obama (voted in by the US public) is right wing? Is gay marriage a conservative notion? The left are doing very nicely in the US by my reckoning.
