Trump hits full retard again and has a 2nd go at Megyn Kelly on Fox Propaganda. rofl He loves it.
I missed this interview last night.

I knew there was going to be a kiss and make up, Kelly even said that she was very nervous about meeting Trump in Trump Towers, but she said he was very gracious, kind, warm and what ever.

I missed the actual Fox interview, where did he hit 'full retard'?

I was half-listening to a radio report about it and jumped to the wrong conclusion; it does seem to have been very lovey-dovey, or at least lovey-dovey by Trump standards. She softballed him though, even considering it's Fox.

I heard what I wanted to hear and didn't double-check; mea culpa.

I watched it:

I thought Megyn Kelly came across as a smart, sassy woman: very likeable. But it was hardly Jeremy Paxman stuff and a bit self obsessed about her and her relationship with Trump ( I bet she secretly fancies him).

Trump was trying to show his "softer" side but don't think he's as good at that as he is with his blunderbuss technique. No major gaffes though so 6/10.

As predicted by Dilbert.

he whole point of the U.S. system is compromise. We are supposed to have a President who works with the VP and Speaker to figure out a compromise to every issue that needs legislation passed. That covers budgets, war and pretty much everything internal and external.
It has worked like this for two centuries no matter which party held which position.
Only in the last few years has the system broken down and that is because there has been a refusal to compromise. This is why so many people across the country feel so jaded with politicians and have voted for Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump.
Possibly I'm misinformed - I got the impression that Obama was on a non-starter with a significant element of Republicans purely because of his colour. If you think about how long the Birther issue ran for, it is very hard to come to a compromise when you're faced with that kind of mentality. Combine that with the fact that his healthcare policy was anathema to the GOP he was faced with an uphill struggle pretty much from day 1.

FWIW Obama was only hated by the GOP and their nuttier cousins the Tea party. Trump is hated by both GOP, Democrats, and the Tea Party. So in theory you could argue that it's going to be hard for him to compromise. In practise it will be very easy since he has less principles than a pig rolling in its own muck.
Go back through time and I am sure that many Presidents andPresidential candidates have been unpopular. We visited Washington D.C. recently and saw a number of exhibitions about Presidents. None of them had an easy time.
In modern times we have had Kennedy - assassinated.Johnson was afraid to leave the White House because people would chant slogans about the Vietnam war. Nixon was impeached. Ford lost to Carter who in turn dealt with the oil crisis by introducing the 55 mph limit. He also had hostages in Iran to deal with.
Reagan got the U.S. back on a more even keel which is why he is generally well regarded. But in every case they ALL worked with opposition and got stuff done.
This is why people are upset. Historically there has been cooperation and now that has gone.

Interesting that you cite LBJ; he was one of the most effective presidents, getting vast amounts of legislation through congress, Kennedy by contrast was rubbish in this respect.

So, the polling gap between Clinton and Trump has nearly halved since a little over a month ago.

Well that's one way of looking at it.

Alternatively you could say it.s just reverted to the consistent 6-7% lead that she's held in all the previous polls.
Latest CNN poll has HRC ahead by 13. You can ignore Rasmussen, it's a right wing poll without credibility and always polls at a stupidly high level for the GOP and can therefore distort.

Polls are completely irrelevant at this stage. As far as the electoral college, which is the only thing that will matter, the models have her winning by as little as 332-206 and as much as by 386-152. Of course if a 3rd party candidate does get in.........
Nearly halved again, 3.9% Clinton lead now... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/presi...

Relax. There's a long way to go and a mountain if st will start falling on the Donald next month. I refuse to believe that the American public, whom I interact with daily, will elect a narcissistic, racist conman to the highest office in the land. The polls will fluctuate wildly but Trump's negatives with women, African Americans, Hispanics and young people remain stratospherically high. You can't win a general with white males in 2016.

I was convinced he had no chance. It's an absurd concept.

However, I'm starting to find it conceivable that he might do it.

I suspect a lot of voters will be thinking the same thing and that many people who would not have dreamt of voting for him because he didn't have a prayer might do now.
