Something I don't understand about Trump's tax returns - apparently he can't release them because they're "under audit" ignoring for one second the fact that this is bull5h1t, why can't he release prior year tax returns! Surely they can't ALL be under audit?

Well, it's the electoral collage who votes for the american president, after looking at how their state votes. I thought what was being meant was, that the chances of voter revolt in the electoral college could happen and go against the will of the people in the states where Trump gets the the popular vote, in other words they could do what was in their power to, to vote for whomever they wish.

It's a bit like the Queen, in theory, being able to fire the PM.

There is no meeting of the electoral college in each state. The states are awarded as the votes are tallied, winner takes all. The first states will be called soon after the polls close.

Trump won't release his tax returns because;

A. They show that his earnings do not reflect those of a "billionaire"

B. His tax rate and total tax paid are an embarrassment and symptomatic of what is wrong with our tax system

C. Far from being a generous philanthropist he gives nothing to charity

It's nothing to do with an "audit" and it's going to become a yuge issue in the next 3 months.

I'd always assumed the number of college votes were proportional to the population of the state but it's actually no where near... it's easy to see how the winner of the popular vote might not get the presidency.

It's a bit like senators. Every state gets 2 so Maine and Vermont have the same number of senators as California and New York. The electoral college is a bit more proportional but only a bit. I guess it helps to ensure that small rural communities are not forgotten.

Even if Hilary wins the Presidency, anyone think it will be a two term presidency?

How's what done? On election night the votes are counted and a winner is declared, end of story. California has 55 electoral college votes. The person who wins the most votes in California gets all 55. That's it, there's no discussion about it.

Anyone heard the latest? Trump has effectively called on Russia to carry out espionage in the USA.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/27/politics/donald-trum...

The man is a liability for the world. I cannot see how any sane person can vote for him.

Putin is desperate to have a weak and frankly ignorant person in the White House. Hillary Clinton with her experience is a nightmare for him. Of course he wants Trump to win as it would destabilize the West.

Interestingly a DNC staffer who was looking into Paul Manafort's ties to the Russian leadership also had her personal email account hacked. Manafort is very shady and has worked for pro Moscow groups in the Ukraine.

why does that sound like such a sensible idea but not one which will happen. We have so much in common with Russia and the way the world is going we definitely have a common enemy.
