The MSM loves to bring up Trump's involvement with the birther movement.
There's a reason for that. He's the one that pushed it and pushed it for several years and didn't even have the decency to admit he was wrong. You can see him aquirm and try to bull5hit is way out of admitting he's wrong on various Youtube clips. It's embarassing for many US citizens that somebody so pathetic stands a chance of becoming the next US president.

Yep, she's as shifty as they come as well. However (for me at least) there's a difference between the two; Hillary raised the question, it was answered, and the question was resolved. She may have been doing it to score political points. However when Trump started doing it he realised he'd tapped into a deep vein of mainly thick, mainly Southern, bigotry and he used it to feed his narcissism. He basically discovered Redneck catnip (a black man in the White House) and has been using it to garner adulation for himself. I sincerely doubt that he's a Republican at heart. That's pretty much why he's loathed by the majority of the GOP hierarchy because I think they realize he's taking their grassroots and playing them for fools.

You would need to be fairly cretinous to think the two were equal.

I have asked before and received no answer. What specifically makes Trump a "racist"?
I've been waiting all thread to hear this, and I don't even support the guy.
Here is a clear cut example, Trumps words in " "
http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/article/2016/j...

Where Trump says that an ethnically Hispanic judge can't judge his case fairly, he then goes on to say "I think he should recuse himself." and when asked why states

"This judge is giving us unfair rulings. Now I say why. Well, I want to -- I'm building a wall, OK? And it's a wall between Mexico, not another country, and ..."

Tapper: But he's not -- he's not from Mexico. He's from Indiana.

Trump: "In my opinion -- he is -- his Mexican -- Mexican heritage. And he's very proud of it."

Even his Fellow republicans called it a racist statement

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said Trump's comments about Curiel's heritage amount to "textbook" racism, though he said he would continue to support the businessman over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

but of course pretty much like all racists he is a coward so says.... "I really didn't mean it like that" http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/electi...

Does that work for you?

I'm bewildered that either:

This guy is the best candidate the Republican Party could come up with
This guy is the candidate because in America someone like that has a good chance of winning.

It's absolutely amazing how unfit he seems to be for any kind of public office at any level.

I'm going off his stance on gays, women, religion and foreign policy. For me he is an American type of Erdogan.
A nasty unaccepting and intolerant person.

I believe this is all just to keep his name in the news this weekend so people don't focus on Hillary, who has some events going on.

He will know all this stuff is offensive, but doesn't care as it keeps him number one in the bulletins.

Been reading a lot American commentary on this from both sides and I'm putting my neck on the line.

The ingredients are all there I believe and the stage is set.

Extreme Political disasters notwithstanding, Trump will be the next president of the US, for better or worse.

No. It was discussed many pages back, and was actually the first time I posed the question. Nothing racist about that, IMO. Speculation of potential bias based on Trump's positions on immigration, but that is about it. I am also about as left of center as one can get on issues like this, too.

Not at all sure how any of the questions relate to politics but given I vote Conservative here in the UK they seem to be fairly accurate (bearing in mind however very significant differences between the two countries)

I give up then because your obvious refusal to recognise a blatantly racist statement (like his fellow republicans) means that you are either obtuse or a troll. Or is it until the guy starts shouting wetb**k before you accept that he is a racist.

I was 79% liberal, which apparently tends towards the Dems.

"How does this work?

A 2014 study concluded that people who were more prone to disgust are more conservative and tend to align with the republican party. But, why?

Some scientists believe it's ancestral and that the adverse reactions were used to protect primitive ancestors from contamination and disease. This way a person wouldn't confuse drinking water with dirty pond scum.

The study measured participants' brain response to "disgusting" imagery using an MRI. The study could predict party affiliation with up to 98% confidence. The questionaire on chartsme.com uses Jonathan Haidt's disgust scale in lieu of MRI and imagery, so results are likely far less accurate. Watch TED Talk to learn more or read "Yuck!: The Nature and Moral Significance of Disgust".

You should understand that some of the Southern states you call "thick", "redneck", "bigoted" are states that have had economic growth while leftist states have lost business and population that have fled to the South. Texas created the most jobs of any state in the last few years. Alabama and Kentucky build more than half of the cars here. You should better understand that huge portion of the nation as well as their contributions so as to not look a bit "thick" yourself. wink
