You might have a point about the stness of US MSM, but Ben Carson is a product of his crackpot shismatic sect; as long as the GoP allows bampots like him the oxygen of publicity they'll continue to remain in the wilderness while the Dems select a succession of decidely mediocre presidents.
He is a product of the same culture that produced Hilary, Rubio, Cruz and all the rest. A cruel and empty culture that has come to value money above all else, and theater and presentation over substance.

Abortion is a wedge issue that is not even worth discussing in context. What candidate, aside from possibly Sanders (and I am being generous), do you think will address the issues that actually matter. Say the security/surveillance state; foreign wars of imperialism; financial corruption and corporate fraud; the national debt; the privatization of schools, public space, and the Internet; and the erosion of civil liberties since 9/11?

All rhetorical of course, the answer is pretty clear. I welcome President Camacho in 2020.

Ponder this: What professional reporter asks a presidential candidate if he would approve of "going back in time and aborting baby Hitler"? What kind of news operations publish this as headline news? What kind of adult finds this ridiculous question significant?

Ben Carson is merely a product of his environment.

Try running as a GOP candidate with pro choice views! Bush was asked the same question and said "Hell yeah" and he's being criticized for that answer too.

This is my point about the GOP base. They are not like the British conservatives. They are poorly informed, often poorly educated and care about abortion, guns, immigration and restricting the rights of people of colour. To appeal to that electorate you have to present yourself as a whack job, hence the current polls.

I haven't seen any evidence of this.

Okay, here you go.....

The state of Alabama (where the Top Gear crew had rocks thrown at them, BTW) passed a law saying you had to show a photo ID when you vote. In America, in nearly all cases, your photo ID is your driving licence. Guess what happened after that? The Republican-controlled Alabama legislature closed 31 Department of Motor Vehicle offices (where you must go to obtain your licence/photo ID), all of them in predominantly black counties.

LOL. Then you haven't been trying. Republican states up and down this land have been desperately seeking to pass voter registration laws that would make it much more difficult for minority (democrat) voters to vote.

Clinton invokes the September 11th attacks to defend her ties to Wall Street.

American elections are fantastic - never a dull moment and no shortage of jaw-dropping comments. Got to love their over the top pseudo-patriotism as well.

'Deeply depressing.'
Pretty much sums it up.
These people have billions to spend on military as well....

Makes me think of that Fox guy that says to some scientist, 'explain the tides then!'

In predictable knee jerk news 26 Governors (25 republicans and one dem who's trying to get into the senate) have said they won't allow any Syrian refugees to come into their state. They don't even understand that it's a federal issue.

Most people didn't realise he was running.

The other 1%ers need to follow suit. I can't understand how anyone can contribute to Graham, Pataki, Santorum or Paul's campaigns and think they are going to get a return.

In other news a House vote would override the Presidential veto on Syrian refugee checks. 47 Democrats joined forces with 242 Republicans, Obama losing his own people there.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/house-gop...

"The vote was 289-137, enough to override a threatened White House veto of the legislation"

Obama has stooped to name-call opposition politicians for being afraid of women and children. This confirmed what a weak President he really is.

47 House-trained Dems, Hasna Aitboulahcen, ISIS strategy.

Fortunately for everyone he'll be back in the community at his own level soon enough.

What a fantastic idea to have a 'Muslim Database' as proposed by Trump. Tbey can at least keep watch over those who seek to hurt them. I think it is long overdue in this country. We should go a step further and have black, Irish and gay databases too.

There will also be a Christianity test for refugees and asylum seekers fleeing Assad and others like him. I think we should bring that in too immediately.

Ben Carson wasnt far from the truth when he compared refugees from that area to rabid dogs.

Carson or Trump. It doesnt matter who wins. I just know the US will be great again.

One unthinkable thing that's not gonna happen is a Trump presidency.

A judge recently used the words "Ponzi", "Bernard" and "Madoff" to describe the activities of "Trump University". Trump is being investigated under RICO for that little scam. Well, not so little... I can only imagine the Hillary team rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of his nomination. Unfortunately that won't happen either but whoever gets it (looking likely to be Rubio) will be tainted by The Donald.

You're quoting Rush Limbaugh. Only very dumb people indeed quote Rush Limbaugh. Who's your mentor on British politics now that Peter Griffiths has died?
