Allah onna stick. biggrin
"“Certain things will be done that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy,” Trump said. “We’re going to have to do things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago.”
“We’re going to have to do things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago...yup, vote for me”

What a fantastic idea to have a 'Muslim Database' as proposed by Trump. Tbey can at least keep watch over those who seek to hurt them. I think it is long overdue in this country. We should go a step further and have black, Irish and gay databases too.

There will also be a Christianity test for refugees and asylum seekers fleeing Assad and others like him. I think we should bring that in too immediately.

Ben Carson wasnt far from the truth when he compared refugees from that area to rabid dogs.

Carson or Trump. It doesnt matter who wins. I just know the US will be great again.
They should be yellow, and in the shape of a star, just to make sure they are noticeable.

You're quoting Rush Limbaugh. Only very dumb people indeed quote Rush Limbaugh. Who's your mentor on British politics now that Peter Griffiths has died?
On junior doctors thread turbo is was admiring guy who says that morning-after pill promotes promiscuity.

Limbaugh said:
There is a movement on to normalize pedophilia, and I guarantee you your reaction to that is probably much the same as your reaction when you first heard about gay marriage. What has happened to gay marriage? It's become normal -- and in fact, with certain people in certain demographics it's the most important issue in terms of who they vote for. So don't pooh-pooh. There's a movement to normalize pedophilia. Don't pooh-pooh it. The people behind it are serious, and you know the left as well as I do. They glom onto something and they don't let go... You know how much progress the notion of gay marriage has made. So I'm just keeping you here on the cutting edge.
I can think of certain demographics who'd admire his views. 'Lefties', sniff of conspiracy to confuse 'normal folk'.

Marriage equality for gays equals paedophilia for this character?
I wonder if these sort of macaroons are dying out, growing, or holding steady in the USA.

Limbaugh is the worst kind of bigoted, racist, misogynistic asshole.

The good news is that (IIRC) over 30 radio stations have dumped him over the past year including the broadcaster that carried him where I live. Many advertisers refused to have their products associated with him.

In a party dominated by old white men he still has sway but his type become less relevant as their audience diminishes.

The Republican leaders must feel the inner facepalm that Blair and Mandy did when Corbyn was leading the polls. The only thing worse for the party than him winning the nomination would be if he won the Presidency! laugh

Clinton is leading the whiners this morning after Pfizer plans decided on Dublin.

Bye bye tax dollars.

This is ironic in the extreme and what happens when any vaguely left and therefore economically illiterate political outfit treats tax as a right or a punishment for success rather than as a means to incentivise higher tax-takes through lower rates.

When the Billary ideology prompted her to tell Americans she would take things from them for the common good she ought to have explained more clearly what would disappear, then again being an economics dullard she couldn't see it coming.

One unthinkable thing that's not gonna happen is a Trump presidency.

A judge recently used the words "Ponzi", "Bernard" and "Madoff" to describe the activities of "Trump University". Trump is being investigated under RICO for that little scam. Well, not so little... I can only imagine the Hillary team rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of his nomination. Unfortunately that won't happen either but whoever gets it (looking likely to be Rubio) will be tainted by The Donald.
Hmmm, certainly doesn't look good.

New York Times slams 'outrageous' Donald Trump for mocking reporter's disability

What do you do when a reporter disputes your bullst claim that “thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the 9/11 attacks? Why you mock him for the fact that he's disabled of course.

What's most shocking is this stuff seems to improve his rating. The implication being that a large chunk of the American people really do want a fascist nutcase in charge. Trump is just playing the game and they're lapping it up.

It'd be rather funnier and less frightening if we were talking about a nation that didn't have an enormous military arsenal and influence all over the world.

It's a bit like the popularity of Clarkson or guys like Frankie Boyle IMO. Saying things we wouldn't say in professional public but might in private is one part of it, but I think the larger part is that when the media get all butthurt (to borrow an Americanism) and blow it out of proportion you end up siding against the Media & thus with Trump. I think the same happened with Corbyn when Krishnan Guru-Murthy kept pushing the "you called Hamas "friends" thing", or any paper said anything. Corbyn became the story and no other candidate even got a look in.

I think social media and our new eight second attention spans exacerbate the issue. Trump saying something outrageous gets out on social media. Like a Daily Mail article, lefties and moderates all click it, then moan about it (and make money for the media) so the Media make a bigger deal out of it until it's overblown. He can ps off as many lefties as he likes- they were never going to vote for him anyway and the more they make of it, the more it looks like he's on the losing side of an unfair media campaign. Thus he recruits more from the moderates than he normally ever would.

I think the best thing for the Sanders campaign would be if the right attacked him for being a Communist or some such nonsense. Then he'd be able to get his face on the news country wide to "defend" himself and preach his manifesto without paying a penny!

Trump might appear to be a gobby dhead but he is not a fascist. You need to go and do some reading about what the difference between a fascist, a communist and small government libertarian are. Start with the political compass (google it), then you might begin to see the world through less black and white goggles.

Much like the EDL - he's not intelligent enough to be a fascist. All he has done is to figure out which bell to ring in order to get the Republicans slavering at the mouth.

This ^^. Trump is close to being the opposite of the 1930's definition of fascist.

Wanting a database of people of a specific religion so the government can keep tabs on them is pretty close to Nazism in my opinion.

Trumps's support is worrying but not so much when you boil it down. A significant part of the base of the GOP is made up of poorly educated "working class" white men over the age of 40. The sort of people who would be drawn to the BNP in England or Le Pen's rabble in France. Those people love Trump because he represents them at the basest level, hating immigrants, misogynistic, belittling people of colour or with disabilities, promising that he will "bomb the st" out of our enemies etc.. They are probably 1/4 of the GOP base and they have consistently said they will vote for Trump. The other 75% have pretty consistently said they won't. If you talk to most intelligent republicans they shudder at the mention of Trump.

I can accept that the above may be the case. As you say they might be the same sort of people (patriotic/nationalistic), however I don't think Trump is much like the French NF or the BNP, both of which seem keen on nationalising things.

Thanks, I had only seen earlier reports about this or something similar which were not so clear. Makes you wonder if he actually wants to win!
