If he won, which I doubt, but lost the house to the Dems he can basically whistle for the full term of his presidency. They could cock block him at every move and he could spend the next four years wringing his tiny hands.
Pretty much what the Republicans did with Obama I think.
Indeed, and they then have the gall to chide him as a "lame duck president".

You are a little behind on the news.

Trump has not paid tax for a long time, because he is so smart, apparently.
Admittedly I haven't followed this closely, but is it not correct that this is some old stuff that has come out? Not the most recent tax return which is presumably what most are expecting?

Well, he's clearly not going to release the latest ones.

The phrase "lame duck" isn't an insult, it's just a technical term for a president in the tail-end of his administration.

because he legally didn't have to, otherwise he would be jailed long ago

Yes, but the lame duck period doesn't start until after the election, i.e. in November. The Republicans have been teasing him with it, as an insult, for at least a couple of years, because their meddling has prevented him putting through much of his intended policy.

The thing about the tax, he says it makes him smart, but he attacks others for maximising profit by off-shoring, he also attacks allies for not paying 'their fair share' of NATO expenses. This tax dodge makes him out to be a huge hypocrite, it's the classic example of, 'do as I say not as I do.' and goes against his man of the people shtick, it should hurt him with certain voters.

That would explain why he gets audited by the IRS every year - because they think he's a crook.

That's because being a monumental tub of faeces isn't illegal but if he does disclose them it will reveal to the voters just what a monumental tub he is.

There is no chance of the democrats winning the house. The senate maybe.

For some of his voters, I think for others, the ones who are more into his fiscal side of his brand, it will have an impact. Parts of his brand are; straight talking, America first, paying it back into the system (from his slammming rhetoric on American money-makers), this tax dodging doesn't square up with part of how Trump has manoeuvred his brand in the past 12 months.

It's the Trumnpf brand - Hypocricy. Claim that John McCain is not a war hero whilst yourself being a cowardly draft dodger. Condemn companies who out source jobs while making every last piece of tat you yourself sell abroad. Criticize foreign countries for not contributing whilst contributing not 1 cent yourself. Criticize people who avoid tax while avoiding it altogether yourself. Criticize once married Bill Clinton for his womanizing while yourself being a thrice married philanderer who publicly cheated on the mother of some of your children. Etc.. etc.. ad nauseum

Has Trump ever claimed to be a war hero?

Think you've missed the point.

He criticised John McCain (who pretty much IS a war hero) for getting captured, whilst being a draft dodger himself.

Who said he had? The criticism is that a draft dodger criticised a decorated former soldier for being captured.

(but you know that anyway)

Surely only hypocricy if he was claiming to be something special himself? Anyway, I do get the point.

Actually the wkpuffin (Brian Moore's latest Trump sobriquethehe) went to a military academy and has claimed to know "more than the generals" about ISIS and war generally whereas in fact he is a cowardly draft dodger who has displayed ignorance of nearly all world affairs and even had to ask why we weren't using nukes! John McCain was held by the Vietnamese for more than 5 years and was tortured. He turned down early release (the Vietnamese offered it as his father was an admiral and commander of US forces in Vietnam) unless all those captured before him were released first. He IS a war hero, no question. Trump is a festering lump of excrement in comparison.
