Police searching for missing 16-year-old Becky Watts have announced that they have found body parts.
Her family have been told the "devastating" news, Avon and Somerset Police said.
A massive search for the teenager has been under way since she was reported missing from her home in Bristol on 20 February.
Two people - a 28-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman - were yesterday arrested on suspicion of Becky's murder.
They had previously been arrested on suspicion of her kidnap.
In a statement on the latest development, Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour said: "As a result of new information received late last night, we attended a house at Barton Court in the Barton Hill area of Bristol.
"The information suggested that Becky's body had been cut up and a search at the new location resulted in the discovery of body parts.
"Although formal identification procedures have not yet been completed, we have made Becky's family aware of this discovery.
"As a result of this latest development, a further three men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
"They remain in police custody at this time as do the man and the woman arrested on suspicion of Becky's murder."
He added: "This is devastating news for Becky's family and friends and our thoughts are with them. We will continue to offer every support we can to them during this terrible ordeal."
Becky left home on 19 February with her phone, laptop and tablet computer but did not tell anyone where she was going.
Detectives have seized a black Vauxhall Zafira - registration HY06 HYA - and say they want to speak to anyone who had ever owned the car or had seen it between 19 and 23 February.

I'm not sure they do. But with 24 hour news and the amount of news channels, rude aggressive reporting and a mania for minute detail I think the police are under intense pressure these days. I always feel for family members they must feel under scrutiny for every reaction every look they give and must feel on trial themselves at times.do friends and family really need to be reading that?

The house they searched in Southmead is about 1km from me as the crow flies, and it was common knowledge by about 10PM last night that they had found a body.
In these times of social media I think it is better for all that the police release as much information as they have through the correct channels as soon as they have it, for the family's sake.

but accurate info would come from the police, presumably to the family immediately, not to a general audience via facebook firt.
so where is the harm in the police holding fire on notifying the world in order to give the family some time and dignity
if, alternatively, it is being leaked then there should be a proper investigation and accountability
if proper controls were in place, the media would know only that the police visited the family house, there would be no more info than that until the family wished

Correct, and I do agree, but imagine if there had been a leak and the family found out other than through official channels? There would be no psychiatrists/councillors present.
