What is Barton Hill like? A few comments on twitter suggest it has quite a diverse community. 16 year old girl, Vauxhall Zafira and 4 male arrests.

According to the Mail, the Zafira owner is a takeaway delivery driver who last worked the night before she disappeared. You can add that to the 'Asian grooming gang' check list you're compiling there.

It was a little obvious wasn't it?

WTF has been going on here?
"Becky had left home with her phone, laptop and tablet computer but did not tell her friends or family where she was going, or take extra clothing."

That puzzles me - she didn't want to leave her kit at home as she didn't trust someone - poor girl

Police now saying that it's four males arrested and one female, as opposed to three and two. Two aged 29, three aged 23.....

Barton Hill is a traditionally rough area that benefited from £50 million of Government money in recent years. I seem to recall it was named as one of Britains's ten worst areas in terms of the state of the place, crime etc. Mixed, diverse community as mentioned above... streets are mainly rabbit hutch newish houses combined with some bloody tall tower blocks. Remember a young girl (Kylie ? ) murdered in a flat not far from where this latest incident happened. Perpetrator set fire to the flat IIRC to hide the crime.

Barton Court is a cul-de-sac, very close to the house in Cotton Mill Lane that they were searching yesterday. Really don't like the area at all and thankful that I live four or five miles away.

Not sure that's right. You can want to hide something without not trusting someone. Plenty of kids are bullied and don't want their parents to know, despite having the best parents.

Sad news for the family.

2 arrested on suspicion of murder and at least 5 on suspicion of assisting an offender it would seem to be very close knit. I wonder if this will turn out to be another group of foreign gentleman responsible.

Well I never thought this was going to have a happy ending however the news that they've apparently cut the girl up is awful.

My initial interpretation was that whoever killed her asked her to bring her laptop etc as they contained incriminating evidence (chat logs etc) of grooming etc - pure speculation on my part.

why do the police feel its necessary to release that level of information via the media

do friends and family really need to be reading that?
Yes, the police seem to think they are stars in a movie these days, would have been more tactful to just confirm that she was dead.
this . the days when a bit of tact was used appear long gone.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't I should imagine.

As a poster above stated, it would appear it was common knowledge throughout the community last night, I am sure the Police would much rather deal with things in their own time etc but this way they stop any sickos trying to make money by selling an exclusive and can manage the flow of the media.

I remember when Stuart Hazell went on the run they were managing the release of his sightings very carefully so as not to spook him and let them close in quietly and efficiently

No we wont know for certain which is why I said ' I wonder'. However this is either an incredibly close and villainous group or family to be 7 people involved or or as I have stated. Massively unusual for there to be so many people in the frame at this stage wouldn't you agree?

No - for serious offences you arrest if there is a chance and find out later. Collecting forensic evidence and getting phones will be priority one.

No idea if they will all be involved - but it's not unusual to nab anyone who could/might be loosely connected.

Really? It may indeed be usual to help with inquiries but not to arrest and hold! And this many? I cant recall a case similar.

But we will see, i am confident that time will back up my suspicions.

I have personally been involved in serious cases (not killing people, or harming kids), but where they need to collect evidence quickly. The easiest way to get your phone and search your home is by arresting you. Then they can seize computers etc... In this case I wouldn't complain. It would be much bigger problem if they didn't and evidence went missing.

I know it's the Mail but they have a photo of a black Zafira from google street view, only they can't confirm it's the actual car as the number plate has been "muzzed". WTF?
There's a (c) date on the streetview photo somewhere isn't there?

Well the names of the two first arrested have apparently leaked so now you can tell us whether this confirms your suspicions.

Official news will come out, but it doesn't at this stage look like a grooming gang as some people have wondered.

All very sad. Can't remember of anything as grisly happening in Bristol in recent times.
