I'm guessing Ian Hunter will soon be getting a new cell mate for the duration ...

What annoys me is these sick morons use of the Huntley defence. So many cases which involve truly gruesome behaviour that you would imagine even dogs in the woods wouldn't contemplate, have defendants who seem to be hell bent on dragging the relatives of their victims into court to hear all the horrible events that took place with alibi's that are literary ridiculous.

"It was a sex game that went wrong (despite the fact she was 12.). I panicked and hid her body in the water tank because no one would believe me"

"The first one had a nose bleed, banged her head on the wash basin and died. I then panicked and killed the other one because no one would believe me,"

"My DNA is on all the victims because I was friends with those girls and gave them all lifts home on the nights of the murder, it was all a massive coincidence,"

and now.

"I wanted to teach her a lesson for treating my mum so badly. So instead of sitting her down and having a proper chat, I tied her up like it was a kidnap themed sex game but she accidently suffocated. I then panicked because no one would believe me, so I chopped her up with a band saw (which I haggled about the price about in B&Q), wrapped the bits up in clingfilm and hid her in two different houses,"

For fks sake; really, truly, what is wrong with these people?

Truly sickening case, poor poor girl. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a parent having to go through any of this..

I honestly think putting them to sleep now, like you would a sick animal, is the best way forward.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I heard that ludicrous defence story. If I had been on the jury my mind would have been made up in 4 seconds not 4 hours.

I was listening to the statements from the family outside the courthouse on the radio earlier and they were absolutely heartbreaking.

Having now seen the pictures of his house that the jury saw during the trial, I'm afraid I would agree completely with that.

"Can you explain why your house is filled full of junk, some it picked out of other peoples rubbish bins, that clutter up the house so much that the only room you can only actually get into is the bedroom and that's via a 'tunnel' formed though the mess and yet the bathroom is as spotless as a McLaren handover suite?
I mean, isn't that a bit unusual when the rest of the property has cat st trodden into the carpet in every room?"

They are Psychopathic/Sociopathic, whichever is the correct one, I can never remember.

In any event at least this guy is going down for a very long time. Looking at a Whole Life order, I would think.

In fairness to the jury they probably spent most of the time deliberating the other charges and the ones against his stupid tart of a girlfriend rather than him.

Why did two of the defendants (according to the Bristol Post) plead guilty to "assisting an offender, on the basis that they did not know that Becky's body was in the cases"?

How is it possible to be guilty of assisting an offender when you don't know that he's an offender?

Maybe Hoare and Matthews told them there were drugs in the case or something. That way, they'd be an offender without knowing there was someone in there.

I saw the dad and step mum on the TV.
I'm not criticising at all, but just cannot fathom how they can or have managed to stay together. I mean, just imagine it, having your teen daughter killed by partners son?

They've been sentenced already.

Nathan Matthews has got life in prison, with a minimum of 33 years.

Shauna Hoare has been sentenced to 17 years.

Question this guy will be 61 come parole hearing. Do many prisoners in the UK last from there 20's to pensinable age inside or do most sucumb to ill health suicide etc?

I mean he is a for sure but now justice is done he might as well kill himself,

It's a very tragic situation but at one point he said "if this doesn't split us up, nothing will."

Errrr yes, I think you may be right there. Difficult to imagine a situation where he says "You've put too much sugar in my tea, so that's it, I'm off. Your son killed my daughter, and I let that go, but now this. It's the final straw!"

If they do stay together, I will be amazed. How can any relationship take that kind of strain. He wants her son dead, so he said. Will she want to visit him in prison, and if so, what will he say to that.

It's not quite the worst one I've heard. A few years back I guy grabbed a girl in a park, raped and murdered her. His defence to murder (as DNA proved he'd had sex with her) was "I was wandering thru the park, found a dead girl, so decided to have sex with her.

Honestly, talk about the girl having a bad day. She's walking thru the park, and happens upon a psychotic murderer (not a common occurrence.) And the very next guy who happens to wander by is a necrophiliac (I doubt there are many of them around either).

I mean, ffs, credit the jury with a bit of sense and just plead guilty. I almost feel sorry for the barrister having to try and sell this bks to the jury.
