RIP

Very clever man, could turn his hand to many things, inc art and photography, but always remembered as Spock, of course.

Say Bilbo Baggins to anybody today and they'll just think of Martin Freeman as the Hobbit.

As a teenager in the 60s it wasn't just Star Trek, Nimoy sung a little ditty about Bilbo.

That Baggins song seemed right out of place to me when I saw it as a kid in the 70s.

But it was the very essence of the 60s. Makes me chuckle now.

RIP Spock, you've reached your logical end.

We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most...............human.

A painfully inaccurate obituary by ITV news just now. Bravo.

RIP. Spock was always my favourite character. Can't believe I am sitting here choked up over this in my late forties, it is not remotely logical and far too "human". He would not approve frown

Is there anyone else on the planet where a hand gesture makes you think of that one person? Well, there's David Cameron of course.

Really sad to hear this on the news.
Always seemed like a genuinely nice guy who enjoyed what he did.

RIP Mr Spock.

Nimoy was Jewish. I've always thought that he got the idea for that gesture from seeing the 'Cohanim' or high priests who adopt that with both hands during particular prayers.

Perhaps so. He certainly made it his own.

Does this mean that we will have to endure his talentless sidekick being all over the TV for a while? (Shatner)
