Not seen this here before:

The letter promising to change as she didn't want to be punished is heart breaking......

Thanks for the warning. I'm not going to read it.

Should the sexuality have been mentioned during previous news reports?

I assumed that it was just another case of the new dad not wanting to take on someone else's kid or wanting to be the sole focus of affection.

I'm not sure what to make of the fact that the new person in the mother's life was another woman that wanted the child dead.

I don't want to read it from the title. I will however say I hope the mother and lover get thrown off Dover cliffs.

I live about 2 miles from Chadwell Heath frown The area has gone downhill gradually over the the years, coinciding with other factors...

This is a really horrible story. Why weren't the neighbours more proactive?

Manslaughter seems very light for 2 who on the face of it seem like very evil people.

It is truly mad. The Jury ought to be questioned!

An awful case.

Proving intent is hard when it's fundamentally negligent / reckless.

Manslaughter still carries a life sentence, so we'll see how high the judge is able to go given the quite serious aggravating factors in the case.

Jesus H. That poor little girl. Hearing stories like that makes me wish I believed in heaven and that child might be finding her peace there.

I haven't read it, I just saw some entries from her diary in a newspaper today and for some reason it is quite the most heartbreakingly sad thing I can remember. I don't even think its because she's dead or for that matter the manner of her death, it's just the terrible innocence of her diary, actually trying to be "good" when good or bad had no affect on the outcome. It's so utterly pathetic, the difference between good and bad things she did is so small as to be meaningless but still she tried to identify the good things in order to please the hopeless inadequates that had charge of her. I'm genuinely crying here and I'm not one to usually give a crap. I don't have kids, don't want kids, don't really like kids.

Weird how it has affected me.

What a pitiful case, poor kid. I cannot imagine how evil someone must be to want to torture a child like that.
