Wow, 250 pages of arguments because a self important bloke couldn't have a steak, threw a tantrum at a junior member of staff and got sacked.
Meanwhile back in the real world, yesterday 150 families visited the French Alps to view the remains of loved ones they did get chance to say goodbye to.
I for one would like to thank you for contributing towards the goal of reaching 300 pages. It's people like yourself taking valuable time out from the 'real world' that will help us to achieve that goal Meanwhile back in the real world, yesterday 150 families visited the French Alps to view the remains of loved ones they did get chance to say goodbye to.

Top Gear isn't some firm of accountants in Basingstoke, different rules apply. Someone was given the job of feeding the person 200 million + other people want to watch but couldn't be bothered to do their job, so tempers became short. If your job is to feed the star of the show, you feed the star of the show.
Pull your tongue out of Clarkson's ahole for a second and read what you're posting!
He's just a TV presenter. Talent can't be bigger than the program and that's just the way it is sadly.
Also, Mick Jagger is supposed to be a nice bloke and very polite so I doubt he'd kick off about his dinner.
This place is just astonishing sometimes.

Go on tour with the Rolling Stones and if Mick Jagger wants a steak after a concert you stay and wait until he is ready. You don't flounce off at 10pm, you stay, do your job and cook the steak.
So what? The issue is that he PUNCHED someone (leaving aside +20mins of verbal abuse which given his 'seniority' was at best vile bullying).Go on tour with the Rolling Stones and if Mick Jagger wants a steak after a concert you stay and wait until he is ready. I did ask Willy Nilly how well he knew Jagger a couple of pages back, but perhaps he missed that, so I'll ask again.Willy Nilly said:

Working late every day at the moment as it's year end. Admittedly Ive been fortunate in my career choices in that I've never had to live with 9 men in a caravan. However I still doubt I'd ever hit somebody because they'd offered me a cold platter instead of hot food. Especially if it was my own fault for sitting in a pub somewhere getting p155ed.
That was quite a good career move for me. There are quite a few people that have wanted to do it, but haven't been brave enough and even fewer that have been fortunate enough to work for the person I did. It was rather hard work though. Willy Nilly said:

I don't know him, but will take a punt that if he, or any other big stars that come to town want a steak after performing, they get a fking steak. alock said:

It hasn't been cancelled.
What are the Top Gear crew doing now? Are they being paid via the unique way the BBC is funded? Have they been made redundant? Have they been given non-jobs in other departments that survived just fine without them a couple of weeks ago?Challo said:
This thread is mental. We had a statement from DG outlining what happened, and that JC has not had his contract renewed as he physically punched a producer and subjected him to a verbal tirade of abuse. Even JC has come out and said its not the producers fault and to leave him alone.
Yet.......some people are either stating JC is not at fault, or except that he punched him but it's all the Beebs fault as they have failed in a duty of care to JC, allowed this to happen, wanted him out and set this all up. Or it's the Producers fault that he didn't get the food sorted when the Cook had decided to go home as the crew where late, that he is a failure because he didn't man up and fight back, and that he is the reason the A&E is in crisis that he went their with a busted lip.
Yes it's sad Top Gear is over, Sundays will not be the same. But please....it's a TV show. The conspiracy theories coming out on this are worrying. Maybe just maybe it's JC's fault and nothing else???

Many have said that what Clarkson did was wrong, but that the punishment should fit the crime. The question very definitely needs to be raised whether the show should be cancelled for the sake of a brief altercation.
Some have said that a fine would not be appropriate. The injured party here may have been quite happy with financial compensation so why go any further?.

My understanding was that they hadn't "come to town" but were staying in some country hotel in the middle of nowhere. I will take a punt that had they been staying in Central London, they probably would have been able to source a steak at 10pm.
It was Yorkshire. you're lucky if you can find a shop open after 4pm to sell you a bag of Monster Munch.JagLover said:

Exactly. There are a wide range of options between condoning his behaviour and terminating the show.Dr Jekyll said:

The DG maintains JC is sacked, for 'crossing the line' and subjecting a colleague to sustained verbal abuse and a physical attack.
But he isn't sacked because he remains under contract until Tuesday midnight. Semantics?
In previous contracts of employment I've seen a clause relating to 'gross misconduct' which would lead to summary dismissal. No period of grace, just dismissal.
When the prog returns it is likely it will change and ratings may be affected. At it's peak it was the highest performing of it's type for the Beeb. So that income stream may be compromised.
But then again, Murdoch closed an entire news paper following the 'hacking scandal', whereas Mirror Group remain unsanctioned (having engaged in more 'hacking' than NoW).
But at least we have the correct moral and ethical stance on this. Or am I missing the bigger picture?
