I am rather surprised to hear JC is fond of rosé, I've always thought of it as a wine that's neither one thing or the other.

I'd thought I'd misheard/misread, but apparently not. (Bottom of the page) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3020724/SE...

It is completely bizarre why some are attempting to put a political slant on this.

You won't find any of the political parties attempting to justify JC's most recent or previous misdemeanours, or criticising the decision not to renew his contract.

Times have changed and what was once acceptable no longer is. Plus ca change.
Exactly.

This place comes across as a room full of fat 50-something's stuck in some smutty 70's time warp.

Irrelevance beckons smile

A guy from my office was sacked in January this year because he got to drunk at the work Christmas do in December and said some quite lairy/suggestive things to a few women of the office.

One phrase he uttered was "Phwooaaar! Look at the arse on this one!" whilst leering at my admin girl Stacey who was wearing a black leather mini skirt and high heels.
Seriously he was sacked for a drunken comment at a Xmas do.... PC gone mad.
Yep. I kid you not.

It was a work do where we all went to a a conference type thing in the afternoon with staff award presentations and all that, then got ferried to a large hotel in coaches, where we proceeded to have dinner and drinks followed by a bad DJ and 'disco' as you get at these sort of things.

There was the best part of 200 people there, and a few got quite tipsy on the drink provided by the company, but it was all good natured, but this guy took it too far by getting fairly blind drunk and then making his way around being very suggestive and extremely lewd to the women, and I believe slapped a few on their backsides etc.

They complained about his behavior and he was sacked for conducting himself in such a manner at what was classed as a work function.

I bet he had fun explaining to his wife why he got sacked.

I can see it from both sides. He's a grown adult. If he can't behave in the company of colleagues even after a drink then they don't want him. Simple as that.

From his point of view, it was free drink and a Christmas party and he wasn't technicaly 'at work'.
So was it a few inappropriate comments or was it physically assaulting other members of staff?

I wouldn't want my wife or daughter working in an environment where other employees felt able to treat them like that.

He is an amazingly patient and polite man isn't he?

I wonder why Hammond hasn't given any interviews outside the gates of his country pile.

What a nice guy, and I think we all know why Hammond hasn't given one, as I'd imagine he wouldn't be that patient or probably that polite.

Although it does beg the question if Hammond and May were there, why didn't they step in and stop Clarkson from being such an arse?

Oh well, I had been thinking we could change a few words and say basically the same things about pro-Clarkson UKIPers. Depends on your starting point I suppose.
The Venn diagram for Kippers, Clarkson apologists and BBC haters seems to have one hell of an overlap doesn't it?
Not really, but lefties/Clarkson detractors/beebophiles does smile
That statement does seem to illustrate two of my theories about the way the world works.

People lump together those they don't like so they can associate all of the bad stuff with all of them. And people look for things that support what they already think.

That might get off the ground but "like" has nothing to do with it. Nor does "bad" apply, so it's stalled on take-off.

The BBC is biased, its staff say so, its output says so too but it's a national broadcaster with a remit to be impartial.

That's not like/dislike or good/bad it's inappropriate. However, people who view the world with the same left-liberal i.e illiberal perspective will see it as fairly normal and acceptable, but it isn't.

Pointing out the inappropriateness isn't "don't like" and what's inappropriate isn't "bad" it's just wrong i.e shouldn't occur.

I see the 'Top Gear Live' shows are going on, with JC... although all 'Top Gear' branding is being removed.

Question - does the BBC derive any revenue from these new shows, if so is that not massively hypocritical?

Massively hypocritical of them then.
