Can't you spell, silly boy?

See, we got things right in the 70s, enjoyed them and learnt how to spell.

If you cave into right-on PC these days, you're left with a very dull existence that's all a bit girly...hehe

If you let them carry on with this tripe, they'll take the army's guns away before you can stifle a fart because that's bad manners.
Fat and 50 perchance?

hehe
You're either a
So fat and 50 and agreeing with him with a smile on your face, or the next generation, The 'PC correct' generation, in which case you're you're being hypocrpritical, in that you are ageist and also fatist.

I'm with Mybrainhurts on this, a precious post described how someone got a but drunk at a works party and groped a few women, he was reported, and lost his job. Another poster suggested he could sue the provider of the drinks as they were at fault for supplying him with alcohol. Those 2 posts just illustrate exactly the kind of thing what we 'oldis' despair of.

In my day (Lad) another man at that staff party would have hauled him outside, punched him in the face and told him to fck off home to the missus - end of the matter. Clarkson got annoyed and punched someone, again, in my day, they would both have been dragged apart and told to fck-off to their respective rooms - end of the matter. No 265 pages of posts, National Newspaper reports, headlines stories on News at 10, The Prime Minister getting involved, it's all pathetic nowadays.

Has anyone seen 'Rush', the film about James Hunt and Niki Lauda? In that a reporter at a press conference asks a very personal question to Niki Lauda, Niki Lauda tells the reporter to fck off. James Hunt heard the remark, and after the press conference drags the reporter into the mens toilets and beats the $hit out of him. End of the matter, it's sorted. Can you imagine Lewis Hamilton doing that today?

Were all becoming a big bunch of girlies, and the litigation Lawyers are getting richer and richer.

PS don't knock being over 50, because guess what, you'll
be there one day.

The only problem with that according to most sources is that the Hunt incident did not happen.

James Hunt couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag FFS.
Nikki was a lot tougher.

It did happen! I saw the film biggrin. You're correct, but it's believable because things were different then. Hunt did once punch a Marshall though - he got fined for it biggrin

George Best was once asked in an interview "what's the shortest time between making love to a woman, and then playing in a match?" To which he smiled and replied "It was during half time".

It's still up to the BBC to decide whether to show it or not, though.

Most of the posts from certain people probably never happened. Just mythology they invent from the good old days to try and make up for the bitter disappointment they feel for being pathetic never will bes.

They (as in all the Top Gear presenters) don't have a BBC contract any more. So they can go and do whatever they like with whoever they please, as long as they don't call it 'Top Gear'.
The live shows will just be rebranded and they can do those if they wish under a different banner.
Word is that Sky and Channel 4 aren't currently interested in a new TG style show. Maybe ITV will go for it. There probably aren't any other channels with enough money to pay Jezza's asking price.
The current shows are the set-up of BBC Worldwide. The presenters would have to set up their own rig. They are free to present what they wish, but I wonder what was in the contract of sale when JC sold majority holding of TG to the BBC. It is still in JC's best interest that TG is a success and continues to be a well selling programme.

He hasn't had his BBC contract renewed but he isn't/hasn't been banned from appearing on the BBC.

The Live events are co-produced with Brand Events.

I would suggest there is a nice big cancellation penalty fee in the contract between BBCW, Brand Events and the venues. That will have given them all an incentive to carry on with the shows.

What was in the contract of sale is something we can only guess at currently.

That's why I guessed at it. Looking towards the future, it's gonna be a nice earner for JC.

It's in the best interests of all concerned that the shows go ahead. I don't understand why anyone would wanna bash the Beeb for not stopping them.

Are people bashing the Beeb for that? As has been said, it's not as though Clarkson has been banned in some way. He just hasn't had a contract renewed.

One thing's certain - JC can turn all of this hullabaloo into a nice little earner if he wants to. We'll have to wait and see how and when (and if) he does.

It seems that a lot of people don't really understand Television and entertainment in general.

It's not like a 9-5 job, so making comparisons as some have in this thread is probably pointless.

That is how it has read to me.
From looking at JC, he's in a sort of meltdown. He's trying to do his best it seems in a bad situation. He may need the cash or not, what with his divorce and whatnot. JC might be able to turn this to his monetary advantage, even though some reports from some stations say they don't want him. The door seemingly could be open at the Beeb if he sorts himself out.
I agree from reading stuff here that a lot of people don't understand quite a lot about the biz.

It strikes me that this has indeed been a coup for the left.

The right, as we've seen on this thread, have proven completely unprincipled and hypocritical - who gives a fk if a presenter goes around hitting colleagues if they do something I like. Especially when that thing is "annoying people I don't like".

I see this situation as confirmation that the BBC are totally nieve to the benefits of negative advertising.
"Oh my god he's generating advertising , sack him, sack him, we are advertisement free". = no understanding.
Next years TG would have seen profits advance in double digits.

It's not like he ran over a bunny rabbit just before Easter.
