I dont mind Sue Perkins but not for Top Gear, I don't think she is a petrolhead which is kind of a pre-requisite, being able to reel of double-enterdres wont cut it for a motoring show, even one that is mainly about entertainment.

Dermot o Leary, just no !

I think they should just get the Eastenders script writers to find a way of putting Clarkson back on top gear.biggrin

That makes no sense to me. If you can't be un pc on commercial tv why do commercial tv stations from all over the world buy the rights and screen it?
Exactly! biggrin

Typical of the dearth of thinking on this thread.

I reckon because it's become a 'thing' that is bigger than what it used to be. The allowed hooligan because it's an old and known hooligan.
Starting up a new show just to be rude and 'anti-PC' might come across as people just being tts.I think the ages and age of relationship helps. A bit like Grumpy Old Men.

Do you think the BBC would go for a "topless" version of TG....
there will not be a replacement for the 3 amigo's so expect something completely different and definitely very very PC.

Any new Top Gear will see a move into the new era of electrically powered vehicles and cycling. And the presenters will have to sneer and spit if they have to utter the word 'Tory'.

New Top Gear bullst bingo - I'll have "This car has great eco-credentials"

if they can build a car that can run on Bullst then that will be worth seeing but I think we all know which way this is going to go.

Right, I think I've cracked it! Suggestion off to the BBC 2 controlist woman presently.

Need three presenters so, Sue Perkins - okay the token lesbian installed - Marcus Brigstock and Richard Bacon.

Might not be too much about cars, other than hybrids and trams, given that they all probably hate cars, but it would be so "right on" funny. In a very unfunny way.

We could have had a "who punched the producer" type cliff hanger.

It is odd, however I do agree with him. Women stand ups who are hilarious are very rare.

Women standups on TV aren't very good other than maybe one or two but on the comedy circuit the representation is really high (30-50% most gigs I go to) and the standard of the women is generally slightly higher than the men.

Off topic slightly, but I've just seen a trailer for a program on C4 on Sunday at 8pm (For the Love of Cars). Looks pretty good, and they've clearly targeted the gap at that timeslot!
