What does he do these days? Sure enough £ to retire on but 40-60 years of just passing the time no thanks.
He's semi-retired for the moment. Seems to be on a health kick - he's lost a ton of weight.
He's come across poorly on anything he's done on TV - suspect he doesn't have much choice over the semi retired bit......

Perhaps not; he did make an official statement on the matter since he was questioned. I dunno, I always enjoyed his radio show and I can see why he'd work in some ways. Doesn't matter really!

I didn't mind his radio show although like manyl formats that go on for a while, I thought it got a bit tired. But on his TV stuff, he just never seemed to fit and I'm not talking about the whole 'face fit for radio' stuff, he just seemed out of his depth

I'm sure he expected to make a successful transition to TV having been so highly regarded at radio 1 where he was also paid very handsomely. One has to assume not getting the bigger jobs that he might have hoped for has influenced his thoughts. As you say, not exactly important I suppose

Chris Evans on R2 breakfast show isn't far off the same length and (as an old Moules fan go drifted towards the last few years) the R2 show is still very fresh and entertaining.

I do wonder if that's due to having to sit near Quentin Wilson though.

Jeremy Clarkson says 'I will miss Top Gear' in Sun column: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32363...

Jeremy Clarkson has said he will miss hosting Top Gear, in his first comment since he was dropped from the BBC show.

The presenter was writing in his first column for the Sun since he was released from the show on 25 March after an "unprovoked physical attack" on a producer.

"Heartfelt thanks to all those who have written to say how much they will miss me on Top Gear," he wrote.

"It's not as much, however, as I'll miss being there."

He did not add anything more about the incident.

Clarkson had been suspended by the BBC on 10 March, following what was called a "fracas" with Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon.

The decision caused an outpouring of support from Top Gear fans, with more than a million people signing an online petition to reinstate him.

The row, which took place in a Yorkshire hotel, was said to have occurred because no hot food was provided following a day's filming.

An internal investigation followed and the BBC's director general Tony Hall confirmed Clarkson's contract would not be renewed.

His weekly Sun column had not appeared in the interim but the paper had assured readers that he was on holiday and "had not been sacked".

I am sure the break will do him good its been clear that there has been a lot of friction with the BBC for sometime now.
I think he will probably do some specials with his mates before too long.

That's why I asked the question one the other page. I looked at the website a few days ago and there was an article by him.

So why stop all remaining unscreened tv episodes and keep his magazine articles?

Just been revealed that Clarkdon was told he probably had cancer 2 days before the incident so his stress levels would have been unusually high and if he was tired then that would exacerbate it. Hitting someone wasn't the right thing to do but perhaps its morenunstsndable as to why it happened and makes the penalty look harsh.

CCS is terrible full stop. There are some interesting cars on there and some interesting facts but the presentation is beyond dire, and that's from pretty much all of them, although I can almost forgive the sweaty toffy one who turns up the "barn finds". Wilson takes supercilious condescension to an other-worldly level.

I lump on his tongue, he is a smoker, Dr said that's probably cancer.that's enough to create quite a bit of stress in most people

Unless you've been told that you need to be tested for a cancer you won't understand.

The vast majority of people (my partners father included) get told they have incurable cancer without thumping people after a heavy bout of drinking.

It's no better than "he had a troubled upbringing".

If true, then a Doctor telling me I "probably" have cancer would scare the st out of me. It doesn't excuse punching somone though.

As I ssid. Hitting someone wasn't right, but possibly mitigating circumstances could have made the penalty less harsh.

I suspect that his mental health is quite fragile at the moment, a break so he can pay attention to himself is probably what he needs. I don't like the stale product that Top Gear had become but I would like to see him do something fresh and original again.
