Steve Coogan killed the Probe..? rofl

I wouldn't buy a Probe, and I didn't even know Coogan had said a word about it.

I think you'll find the Probe killed itself.
I had a Probe. Worst car ever.

I do hope this is true - i'd hate TG (or whatever it will be called) going to Sky.

If we get TG by another name on ITV - and a new format of TG on the BBC with decent presenters - we may actually end up better off than we were before. We may also get more series or longer series of ITVTG as i'm sure ITV will want to milk it for all it's worth.

Kinda pointless these days with catchup services and PVRs - other than as a point scoring exercise based on viewing figures.

the quest ion is will ITVs owners and shareholders stomach the risk of losing advertising from one or more makers when Jeremy has another 'Vectra moment' ...

No idea - but it doesn't seem to bother Dave.

The downside to it being on a commercial channel is that top gear will go from 60 minutes to 48 minutes

Yep - but then again, some recent episodes did contain quite a lot of "filler" material.

Dave partially owned by the BBC and only showing old editions of the show ... there is nothing new in the content ...

The easy answer is to only let him lose on supercars or cars no longer in production - hence not advertised.

Who wants to see reviews of consumer models anyway - if I want to know what a run of the mill car is like - i'll go and test drive one, doing so will tell me more than Clarkson ever could.

Here in Australia it has adverts and consumes a one hour slot - We just dont get all the filler material that you guys have to suffer!

Does the BBC own all the other channels across the world that were showing the current series?

I'd much rather "suffer" filler material than have to endure adverts.

Record programme, then skip adverts, thats the way I do thinks on ITV/SKY now

Well - wherever Clarkson et-al ultimately go - adverts are a given. We have already crossed that bridge.

More like 40 mins isn't it. Still amazes anyone thinks TG will be better away the BBC.

Problem with going to Sky, I ditched my subscription recently because apart from Seinfeld repeats there was nothing on there I watched, I'm not going to get Sky again for a few measly episodes of TG every year.

SKY would like nothing better than for the BBC to lose the licence fee. This to them, would be another skirmish won in the war.

I don't think it will be better, but I also don't think it has to be watered down for a commercial channel to commission it.

and the other side of the coin is that with the massively increased audience share, their advertising rates would go up.
