Would anyone watch Topgear without all of 4 of them as a team?
Not really,
AW is "non seen" part of the group, but for sure his input is probably more valuable as any of the 3 other single presenters.

Yes, millions would watch it, it would be different from the last Top Gear, but the last Top Gear was different from the formats that came before it, people watched them, they will watch what comes next. Not really,

Perhaps not in the same numbers, well all the Clarkson lovers will presumably boycott it, but many others will happily watch it.
I will certainly give it a go and decide after I have watched it whether it is worth continuing to do so.

Indeed, or, Apple are rumoured to have been making bigger moves with Apple TV recently. They need some quality content on there.
Absolutely agree. The Apple TV has huge potential which it doesn't fulfill. Imagine how many they would sell if they bought the rights to TG! Pin money for Apple to do it.....let's live and hope.uk_vette said:

I'd watch Topgear if it's a good program regardless of weather JC presents it or not.Not really,

Having not had a TV for close to 10years, I obviously see few programmes. For me, TG was the only real "must" to watch on iplayer.
Why? Because the presenters, none of them get on my tits, I find all 3 engaging and jocular, all in their own ways. Heck, I liked TG.
The key reason I've historically taken a dislike to TV progs, is because the presenters get up my nose. I can think of few who do not, Coulthard, Paxman , Helen Castor, Titchmarsh, are some, the TG crew of course, but after those, I'm starting to struggle.
What really bugs me is that all too many of those "presenters" come across as more important than what they are presenting , gets on my tits.
Hence, TV down the tip.

Don't forget CT, Top Gear was axed by the BBC in 2001. It was Wilman and Clarkson who resurrected it a year later.Perhaps not in the same numbers, well all the Clarkson lovers will presumably boycott it, but many others will happily watch it.

I gave up watching HIGNFY after many years of enjoying it once they started having guest presenters.
It just seemed like each one was trying far too hard to be funny or clever.
I certainly wouldn't be interested in watching TG if that was the format
Yep me too - same with Buzzcocks. You just don't get the same rapport with guest presenters. It just seemed like each one was trying far too hard to be funny or clever.

It was, but even then still had good viewing figures, a year later it was resurrected with a new line up including Clarkson and Hammond, not May at that time.So it was a successful programme from late 70s to 2001, it was a successful programme more recently and I see no reason it cannot be a successful programme again, it won't be the same without Clarkson, but who knows it might even be better.

I like the idea of it, I hope May says yes.
I'd like to see Kryten as one of the guest hosts. He was brilliant on Scrapheap challenge.
Robert Llewelyn? He's big into electric cars but really isn't a petrol head in any sense of the word. He's friendly but clueless in person. Can't see that ever happening.I'd like to see Kryten as one of the guest hosts. He was brilliant on Scrapheap challenge.

Dropped from 6m to 3m, 3m is still a lot for BBC2 though.
You have to look at the figures in context, though. The BBC's overall viewing figures are not the same, you need to compare it to the rest of the Beeb's output.In May 2001, the BBC's most viewed show was Eastenders, with 17.09 million viewers. Top Gear had 2.53 million viewers, and was the 15th most popular programme on BBC2. It was beaten by;
1 GARDENERS WORLD (FRI 2032) 4.16
2 HAVE I/NEWS FOR YOU (SUN 2231) 4.01
3 WORLD CHAMP SNOOKER (SUN 2001) 3.87
4 MALCOLM IN/MIDDLE (FRI/SAT) 3.62
5 SIMPSONS (FRI 1822) 3.43
6 WORLD CHAMP SNOOKER (SAT 2100) 3.42
7 WORLD CHAMP SNOOKER (SUN 1520) 3.34
8 NEVER MIND/BUZZCOCKS (MON/SAT) 3.33
9 SIMPSONS (FRI 1800) 3.19
10 TALKING LANDSCAPES (FRI 2003) 3.11
11 MOTOR CYCLING (SUN 1715) 3.05
12 SIMPSONS (MON 1802) 2.87
13 OLYMPIC DREAMS (SUN 1500) 2.59
14 TOTP2 (WED/SAT) 2.57
15 TOP GEAR (THU 2031) 2.53
Compare it to January this year, and the BBC's biggest hit was Call The Midwife with 10.49 million viewers while Top Gear was the most watched programme on BBC2 with 6.41 million. It wasn't being eclipsed by snooker and Gardener's World!

It's always been a popular show and always will be. People have got a bit too carried away with the Clarkson stuff imo.5th Gear has continued to shed viewers by the bucket load, and is now on the history channel. Top Gear went on to becoming the worlds most successful "factual" show with 350 million viewers worldwide.
