Wow. That's a coup for Amazon. I guess it was a battle as to who had the deepest pockets and most relaxed editorial control between Amazon, netflix and ITV. At last, something that maybe worth watching on Prime other than Outlander.

I had the one month trial and to be honest I couldn't find anything on there to watch. Netflix has more recent titles and maybe they got out bid by Amazon but I think Netflix would have been the better choice. Hopefully Amazon will sell it to terrestrial TV as well.

Same here. I'm glad they're making it but I would of preferred Netflix to Amazon

But that is how netflix got going - created new content like House of Cards

Another vote for NetFlix here. Amazon's too expensive for a poor selection and just not worth it, even with the BBC titles they're taking over.

Must admit we have both - watch Netflix far more often, but Prime is useful for getting stuff delivered quickly from Amazon - they've just launched a music streaming service too which may be worth a look.

^^I have prime anyway because it saves over that in delivery costs. I was a bit annoyed that they put it by 20 quid and then said, 'We're giving you a streaming service for free!' - er, no. But anyway, more content is better.

Supposedly, 'Extant' was not a bad stab at sci-fi series, but I've not checked it out yet.

I guess the attraction and advantage may be that Amazon have suitably thick skin and deep pockets to allow the editorial content the trio want to run.

Extant is terrible - first series not so bad, second series laughably poor.

Can we assume it'll be Advert Central?

Would have much preferred Netflix personally but hey-ho.

No adverts at all on prime!

ETA - Amazon also recommissioned BBC's Ripper Street, after the BBC dropped it.

Sounds like they have a free hand, editorial wise, Andy Wilman producing , sounds good, very good.

I wonder what Amazon have paid out? Huge money I'll bet. The market here is massive, a proven worldwide market for TG (as was) stlye of programe.

Looks like Prime is going to be subject to huge investment, Amazon looking to compete with Netflix etc.

Interesting times.

They could do product placement and US style introduction sponsorship.

E.g "Tonight's episode is brought to you by Viagra, for men with erectile dysfunction. Don't get down get up again."

or "Tonight's episode is brought to you by Pukka Pies, if it's pie it must be Pukka"

or "Tonight's episode is brought to you by Prius, it's not that st, really"

That sort of crap.

Why do you think that? Are existing Amazon view on demand films littered with adverts?

No but as has been stated above it's possible there will be a drive (gerrit?) toward Product Placement which largely didn't happen on TG. Audi apart of course! hehe
