So why did JC part pay? Was it joint or a single case?

I understand it to be an out of court settlement

Looks like it has been settled out of court between JC and Oisin Tymon
Eminently sensible all round IMHO.
I concur, just get it over with and let the pair continue on.

The amount is being described as 100+

Out of court settlement of a claim brought against both Jeremy Clarkson and the BBC.

A hundred grand for a bloody nose, imagine that happening in the real world, someone burn the BBC down............please
But it did happen in the real world. Why do you want someone to burn down the BBC on your behalf?

If my boss slapped/punched my face, bust my nose/lip and called me a lazy, English, , would I realistically be able to claim over £100k?

issue going on is he he has no job at the moment, nobody in the BBC will touch him.

he's not on the new TG team, and I can;t see him getting hired for the Amazon crew either.

Is this true ? Genuine question, I don't work at the BBC so don't know.

Is it perhaps because they know he didn't do his job ?

If no one in the BBC will employ him because of him suing them, then there will be another claim in the near future.

Nor do I but in a (non-BBC) TV news item this evening the presenter described Oisin as apparently still having a job at the BBC.

"...Tymon is working at the BBC and has been promoted to a new role as a development executive. He was previously an assistant producer on Top Gear. ..."

if he was sacked or in any way forced out it would be another clear-cut case for him to win

Congratulations on getting almost all of your post wrong.

He has a job. It's at the BBC on a different show and he's been doing it since May. He was offered a position within the new TG team which he turned down.

BBC Spokesman said:
“The action involving Mr Tymon and the BBC has been resolved.

“Oisin is a valued member of the BBC who behaved with huge integrity in dealing with the very difficult circumstances last year – a situation in which, as Tony Hall has stated, he was completely blameless.

“We are pleased that matters have now been resolved. Oisin has made an important contribution to the BBC in his 12 years with us, and we hope to see him continue to realise his potential in his role as a development executive.

“We believe Oisin has a very exciting future at the BBC.”
