I know what you mean. On the odd occasions I've ever caught a snippet of Crimewatch or the like, it does seem aliases (as opposed to
nicknames, or online monikers) are the realm of the devious.
I was thinking the very same thing.

I don't think he will resign, last time I looked Lord Green was still around.

He's been busy telling us that Court of Appeal finds that ex Tory treasurer Peter Cruddas "did" corruptly offer for sale secret meetings with the prime minister.

I guess it beats giving power to people who investigate Tax avoidance, whilst having a substantial shareholding in a company that pays SFA tax in the UK.

Well, that would be a bad guess then. Your comment amplifies one of the worst issues with the political cabal that have between them, utterly screwed us over for decades.

Having met the man in question a number of times and known about his business I am at a loss really about the fuss other than he said I was not running my "Michael Green" business when I became an MP when in fact you were for a few weeks or months after.

So did you lie or make a mistake....not sure I care iether way as what he did was not illegal or even morraly corrupt. He has a large print business which I believe is run by his wife now. He si self made and decided to become an MP for less cash. Also when expenses scandle broke he was marked out as one of the saints as he did not take the mick with his expenses.

Basically he is a self made bloke who is a devoted MP, do we want MP's all to be career politicains I think not. Some sure but not all. DO I care if he made a mistake or lied for a period of 3 weeks not really. Am I pleased he saved part of the local hospital in his constiuency and stopped a wast eplant being built in the middle of it yep they benefited locals (I no longer live there). So he has done many good things and written under a pen name so fing what...context for a second Lib Dem Cyril smith turns out he was total sicko, Other MP's bsacially made up travel expense and flipped homes and did stuff that would get regular works fired on the spot...Shapps did none of this. Also I seem to recall the odd hair line is due to cancer treatment.

All in all he is not a bad MP, is he amazing no but really all this fuss its just election BS. Oh final point when I lived in the area he had a policy of campaigning and knocking on doors every weekend over the whole 5 year term not just when an election was about to happen. He also live in the area the last MP did not. He is alright like I said and the left wing media really want to focus on other MP's an all sides of the house that have it seems covered up some trully shocking things.

Aaaww he is nice, didn't scam us on expenses and might have had cancer. Did he rescue a cat from a tree one day too.

He made money from multi-level marketing scams and flogging how to get rich quick schemes to gullable punters, using questionable references.

Fair enough he made his own wealth but please don't make him out to be some pariah and ethical businessman. His wife was still running those dubious companies up until 2012 when they were investigated.

He or she, Seb Fox or Michael Green who knows got away it and closed them down.

Whilst I'm not convinced that I'd want to be represented in Parliament by a chap with 'Grant' for a first name, you need to pop down to Waterstones for a dictionary.

A deceitful and manipulative man, just perfect for the role of Tory party chairman.

jesus wept . i have often wondered how the liars ,cheats and spivs actually get elected in the first place, this post does however go a long way to explain it. you are either incredibly naive, starry eyed after meeting a senior tory or cut from the same cloth. as has been said,if he is re elected his constituents will get exactly what they deserve.

worryingly you also see no wrong in the type of "business" he and his wife were running. read the link to how he bullied a constituent into retracting a true statement with threats of legal action. hopefully he will do it to the wrong person one day and either get thumped or end up in court. christ, if the british public really do want people like this in charge of the country then there really is no hope.

I concur with you on this.
Right now in a seaside town a person has been selected as a Tory candidate for the upcoming local council elections.
This person has a really great back story great as in dodgy as.
It's known to several people yet evidently not to the local Tory board that chose him.

I actually met him when he came to an open day my employer was holding.
Seemed pleasant enough, but struck me as quite superficial and lightweight TBH. And he talked in that way all modern politicians do, i.e., reading off an autocue while some sticks a hand up their arse. To top it all off, he had the limpest handshake I've come across for years.hehe

I believe I said he was ok not brilliant and has done some good things in his constituency. Hardly starry eyed. My point was he wrote so self help get rich quick rubbish and made a pot of cash. Ok great not sure I see why it matters that much. falsifying millage claims as another tory did I find much worse as effectively he got a slap on the wrist for committing fraud. You or I would be fired for that he was not. Shapps told a lie or made a mistake (I assume the former) about his ghost writing. It did not cost the tax payer a penny though. Like I say not sure what the fuss is about when other MPs have done some truly shocking things.

i think part of the problem is that there are so many committing what would not so long ago be termed serious misdemeanours ,some of the lesser stuff is becoming acceptable to people "as it is not as bad as what x,y or z did " . i would almost say slippery slope, except we already appear to be a long way down it already.

i do not expect politicians to be perfect, but at least try and live and work by decent standards in an attempt to lead by example. probably wishful thinking on my part ,but i cannot help think that the likes of shapps would not have made tea boy in any party from the 40,s to the 80,s . maybe i am just getting old and cynical frown

I won't comment on the ethics of his business activities.

According to the newspaper claims he,

1. Used legal threats to make a constituent retract a statement which was true
2. Used legal threats to make a constituent publish an apology for printing a statement which was true
3. Threatened to sue for financial compensation because a constituent published a statement of fact.
4. Threatened to sue for his legal costs in bullying a constituent.

The man is a liar and a bully. He has been exposed and instead of holding up his hands and apologising he continues to have 'representatives' try to spin this with weasel words, so we can add spineless to his list of character defects.

If you are happy to have such a person representing you in Parliament then you must have no reason to complain when they and others act disgracefully.
