I won't comment on the ethics of his business activities.
According to the newspaper claims he,
1. Used legal threats to make a constituent retract a statement which was true
2. Used legal threats to make a constituent publish an apology for printing a statement which was true
3. Threatened to sue for financial compensation because a constituent published a statement of fact.
4. Threatened to sue for his legal costs in bullying a constituent.
So pretty much what any MP or high profile businessman would probably have done. Let's not forget that Labour sexed up a dossier and took us to war, I consider that a bit more serious than some partisan tittle tattle on facebook and the ensuing attempt to dissipate that.According to the newspaper claims he,

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for... I think we want politicians that are robots, they must have had real jobs and be presumably highly efficient leaders and drivers of change, but woe betide them if they've ever made money - that isn't acceptable unless they did so without ever being less than white (I suspect there aren't many of those). They can't have two kitchens or two jags or a trust fund, but we want them to work for a relatively low salary (bearing in mind the pacing of the streets at weekends, I wouldn't do that !) for the good of the country. Not going to happen. This has been dug up to discredit him and his party in the run up to the election, let's be honest about that.

Now all we need to find out is a detailed record of his accounts and tax paid during these years. I believe this Howtocorp has been making large sums of money even before it was publicly listed, just where did these funds get paid and was any tax paid?

I rarely watch TV. QT and that Newsnight were a bit tame.
Shapps does read a bit like Alan Partridge in that text besides the Crossfire photo where he says he's also 'invested' in a 7 seater Chrysler Voyager for family use.
One of his kids isn't called Fernando are they?

A mystery candidate going by the name of Michael Green (Shapps's alter ego) is standing against Shapps in the General Election.
