'Andreas Lubitz had locked the Pilot out of the cockpit and deliberately started a controlled descent'. Killing 150 innocent men women and children. What interpretation would you put on this? We live in a society which tolerates everything. Including being so considerate to lunatics as to place them in charge of aircraft. This society is created by people like you.

You are the idiot.
Right, if only they had banned him from flying on the basis he would go nuts and crash a plane killing 150 people at some point in the future. It makes perfect sense.

A few pages ago in this thread someone said the crew can always gain access to the cockpit, but he/she wouldn't say how, (for reasons I understand).

So where is that poster now? Can you please explain this? It seems the pilot couldn't get back in, if today's reports are correct.
It's been covered in depth even with drawings.

The switch has three positions. Open, and norm. With the code you can get in.

Locked you can't for a number of minutes which is configurable. It's normally on norm so a code can open the door from outside.

The dick must have put it on lock so he could murder everybody on the plane.

it's too bad we still aren't at that stage of technology/medicine which would allow us to revive people, the fker should be revived and his ass kicked until he is dead again, rinse&repeat ad infinitum

Are you not listening to the news? Every report discloses further reasons why the guy should never have been anywhere near the controls of an aircraft. Mark my words. The problem here has been excessive tolerance. Today you are not allowed to criticise anyone. I was once asked for a reference for a former employee who had applied for a job as a baggage handler at Heathrow Airport. I told them precisely why this employee was in my opinion unsuitable. They said 'That is not our concern..'

You lost your credibility when you started on the Hitler comparisons, followed by your sneaky edit.

I don't tolerate many things. But I'll judge on who failed and who created the issue when we have the facts and detailed analysis by experts, and not before.

Lets put it another way then.

Would you be happy to be a passenger on an aircraft piloted by a man with a depression stained past?

I know I wouldn't. But they are out there flying people around.

A job that is reponsible for human lives should not be carried out by a depressive personality. End of, regardless of whether it lasted for 2 days in 1962 or 6 months in 2010.

Anymore on this?
Only that they are saying whatever they found me isn't a suicide note, but is being described as a clue to what may have happened.
German equivalent of P45 probably.

Hold up, where has this information that he had a history of depression / mental illness come from. I've just watched the news and this was never mentioned.

I think his training was suspended for a while due to his depression, but then restarted once he was "better"...

You seem very passionate about this. Do you have a personal history of depression that is under-pinning your argument?

Congratulations on having access to his HR record and having see the full accident analysis. Please post it up.

Special full marks for getting to Hitler. Remarkable, truly remarkable.

Idiot.
What I am saying, Dick, is that having come from an authoritarian regime where the weak or deficient were not tolerated Germany has now gone to the opposite extreme where the weak or the deficient are encouraged, as a way of expurgating past guilt. I appreciate that you lack the perception to follow the argument and respond accordingly.

I just googled, the Mail seems to be the source of this citing 'a friend' whilst the Telegraph cites the mother of a girl that Lubitz supposedly told as the source. It's entirely possible that depression was a result of the actual training itself, who knows? It's hardly evidence of 'excessive tolerance' from the PC brigade though, is it? If it comes to light he has a history of this going back years then fair enough but so far this appears to have been one incident.

The Mail says whatever they found is to be taken away for testing which suggests to me it's drugs.
