So on that reasoning Dodgy Dave offering a referendum had nothing to do with Farage?
No. he should be credited for keeping it on the political agenda for so long. However a lot of people who were pro-Brexit wouldn't have voted Leave if he had been in charge. You may not think so but he's quite toxic, a fact which was recognised by the official Leave campaign.

Agreed, Farage is a very divisive figure in our political scene and that would surely be a turn off for a lot of voters, he's damaged goods politically and will never have the mainstream appeal needed to head up a nationwide campaign.

Interesting piece in the Telegraph today.

They have suggested that Nigel is currently the most influential man in politics today.

They seem to have a good point.

Of all the party leaders from 2013, he is the only one still in place.

The others all lost their jobs because of Nigel.
So influential that he was deliberately sidelined by the Vote Leave campaign.... Had he been in charge we would not now be discussing how best to excecute Brexit.
Had he not had so much influence, none of us would have ever heard the word "Brexit".

We wouldn't have had a chance to vote for it.

And we wouldn't have won.

Ask Milliband, Clegg and Cameron (who will soon be joining them) If they think that Farage has no influence.

eek

wavey I think, more to the real point Womby, where the f have 'YOU' been?

Edit
Incidentally, why is this thread resurrected, I thought (was constantly told) it was dead and gone, never to return?

Be careful Remainians, what you wish for.

All this turmoil in both main parties could lead to (not saying it will) but a lot who didn't vote Kipper last time capitulated at the last moment because of fear of Sturgeon influence at No 10, are really pissed off now with CorbynLab and DisarrayCons.
Remember, 4 million Kipper votes... Labour got just twice that number of votes. There is more than half of the country's Lab voters highly pissed off at this moment. Probably as many Tory ones too.

I suggest you stop arguing about the Referendum.
You know, just move on...

He knows UKIP is a busted flush. He will now draw his EU salary and will become one of the guys he said did nothing.
Obviously hoping for sympathetic Conservative leader to be appointed and hoping to jump ship (no chance of the Tories taking him on though)

but its ironic that the two individuals most responsible for Brexit have put themselves out of the way of accountability.

UKIP - The past.

“I think Ukip needs to be reformed root and branch and we will be looking at that. With a million supporters there’s also a wonderful opportunity if we want to do something, to back something. I think a new party, a brand new party. He (Farage) may have had enough."
well well well......whodathunkit?

Junker next? With Cons divided,Corby seemingly intent on clinging on, and Libdums a spent force an ideal opportunity for UKIP to evolve a little perhaps.

How has he done that? What was he accountable for that he is not now?

How on Earth can you write such utter rubbish?

In case you hadn't noticed, UKIP were a single issue party.

Their whole raison d'etre was to get us out of the EU.

The job is done.

UKIP was the future.

Now it is the past.

All UKIP members and supporters are chuffed to bits.

Interesting - so...perhaps you can share with us why some so many UKIP candidates stood in local elections . Some were even elected- for a four year term- to take decisions on planning, education, highways, child care etc . All subjects where there is no opportunity whatsoever to contribute to any EU debate . So - tell us- WTF are they doing and what UKIP policies are they pursuing ?

Or are they following the sainted Farage's example by being an MEP and contributing two parts of sod all to what he was elected to do as an MEP apart from hurling childish insults on the very rare occasions he actually turned up - whilst trousering his salary . Great role model.

I think that the party will re-form. It might officially disolve itself, or it might simply rename itself.

If a remainer wins the Conservative leadership, then a new UKIP/Conservative party could easily emerge. However, that is looking unlikely. May was never a conviction Remainer. Leadsom is seen as a conciliatory figure, and I think that she will emerge as the winner.

In that scenario, I think that Arron Banks will get the party name changed. They will bumble along for a few years and then fade into obscurity.
