Carswell was asked on a R4 program a couple of days ago if he'd rejoin the conservatives. His answer was that it wouldn't be fair on his constituents because he'd feel morally obliged to hold a by election as he did last time he switched.
It's hardly a ringing endorsement of UKIP but then I don't think Carswell is a plant either, he seems to be happy to function as an MP who supports any party that agrees with him on any subject, but he's not happy to put party loyalty above his views at all. I'm quite happy with that because I agree with Carswell most of the time...

Farage wants Carswell to be thrown out of UKIP.
At the same time Arron Banks, the party's moneybags, has threatened to walk away unless he is made chairman, saying UKIP is run like a jumble sale.
Is UKIP in a death spiral or is this just the precursor to them rising to seize power over the whole UK (and possibly the world).

This is the problem with bigots when you drill down you find that deep inside they dislike everyone, so like rats once their is a scarcity of victims for them to turn on - they turn on each other.

They were, and still are, a joke, a gathering of incontinent OAPs who dislike them foreigners. A last resort for 'uhm, it's someone elses fault'.

I suspect the whole thing is stuffed.
What seems to have properly ruined it are the career types and the stupid level of public infighting that they introduced.
