Perhaps something floating mid-atlantic would suit?

That way Cap'n Flint can pursue offshore pirate banking to full effect.

Arrrrr.

Could be but if it would save several hundred million a year, it will certainly be considered. Any bad feeling in the UK would be balanced by the gratitude of the country they went to.

Frankly, if I was running any sort of international financial institution I'd be stting myself at the possibility of Balls getting back in number 11 and would consider moving anywhere.

Sooner hsbc pisses back off to HK the better ill like it.

They actually told me to "come back next week" when I tried to get my account unlocked...the cheek of it, a customer attempting to access his own account gets told "we're too busy" and to get get an appointment...tts.
fk em, I hope the door smashes their back doors in when they leave.

I don't think they'r talking about a total withdrawal from British markets. Just moving their HQ.

Frankly I don't blame hem for considering it with the way the industry is being spanked for tax.

And Ed Balls can fq right off. The biggest reason they are considering this is that they are frightened to death you'll get your hands on the economy, fq it right up and drain them of tax you cretin.

As a customer in 3 countries I understand the sentiment, believe me. They are worse than hopeless (except First Direct in the UK who are brilliant). It was 4 countries but they closed down one branch and wait for it... instead of transferring everyones balances to another HSBC they SOLD the customers to a fvcking st little unheard of local bank and transferred all our balances there!!! Now that said; wishing them to leave the UK is idiotic, do you have any idea how many people they employ, directly and indirectly and how much tax that generates?

Then you are a fking idiot and a moron, to pardon my french.

You have an issue with HSBC Retail that will stay as Midland Bank.

When they move the HQ, they are doing it for corporate and investment branches which make the money and pay the vast majority of tax.

I presume they will keep a skeleton staff in the UK to have presence on the GMT time zone and to do some trades, or more likely they will have traders over in HK that work the UK hours.

Might want to think about what you write when you have an issue with a section of a company and wish them gone, when the parts that generate most money are the bits that are going and you don't use them.

Imagine that!

Thing is the vast majority of people couldn't give a st if these people left, and the Tories stance as the party of big business (we know) is doing them no favours in the polls.

So the rich bankers are threatening to bugger off, let's think how that's going to go down with most people on minimum wage.

I can never understand this anti Tory vehemence spouted by Labour supporters that "The Tory's just look after big business". Thank god they are. Don't they realise that these evil big businesses employ thousands of workers and pay millions in Tax revenue? What do they want? A massive increase in the Public sector and no Big businesses? Remember the Public sector and the employees pay Zero Tax, so who will fill the revenue gap if there are no big businesses? Us poor suckers who are left in the private sector, that's who!

I mentioned big business, I think "the banks" might have been more apt.

Or Alum Rock is another good shout.
When we we looking to buy our first house, my wife was a nurse at the QE and I was working at the Lucas Research centre in Shirley, and my parents had just moved from Liverpool to Solihul.

A good friend told us that we shouldn't buy a house in Northfield, so we spent 4 weekends looking at houses in Whealey Castle.

Turned out they meant not to buy a house in the whealey castle part of Northfield.

Ended up in Rubery.

I don't get the a to bank thing either.

In the 2000's the UK government met with senior bankers regularly, urging them to lend more and more to fuel the feel good factor. When that became unsustainable all of a sudden it is the banks fault for the government driving a debt fuelled economy.

The banks are not blame free but the government of the time is at least equally responsible for driving up the unsustainable level of debt that caused the 2008 crisis yet it seems that only the banks get blamed and the other responsible parties are now looking like they may get the keys to the piggy bank again, god help us if they do!

Notwithstanding all that's been said above why don't you just move the account to another bank?

You wouldn't need to go to HSBC to do that, just the new bank.

First Direct is a unit of HSBC and for me, has been the best bank imaginable.

As said, your choices are down to you.

First direct here as well and agree excellent bank.

They would of course remain in the UK but the corporation tax paying part would be gone, large loss to the treasures.
