First Direct were a legacy of Midland.

As for moving HQ - I suspect that keen minds will be investigating what the minimum requrements are for 'HQ' under the assorted legislature.

If a tin hut in Panama staffed by a canine with wiggly tail entitled 'Chairman' meets the bill, then that may be what transpires.

hehe

Then you are a fking idiot and a moron, to pardon my french.
Nice opening line, guaranteed to gain my admiration and respect. I wish I could be just like you, Mr small stones.

Might want to think about what you write when you have an issue with a section of a company and wish them gone,
They should act according to customer wishes then shouldnt they?
Not their own, then theyd get a better report.

Like I care a fig.
My experiences of them have been mostly negative, the one time I needed them to really help me they just showed me the door after the third visit, excuses excuses.
Just as well all my outgoings were taken care of or id have been right in the proverbial due to their cock up.
fk em, and include yourself in that.

4v6,

You're showing a mind narrower than a cats whiskers.

Grrrr bankers. Grrr they attended to a more important customer than me.... Grrrr.

Incase you haven't noticed, HSBCs target market are mid to high earners and those with that potential, they are happy for the masses to go to Santander et al.

This is the bank that helps those little old pink ladies to start a designers career off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh no it's *ankers who help - how do I put this - manipulate certain exchange rates.
Well we really need them then don't we.
They do make me sick - rip us off for bloody years and then still get away with it - no arrests or criminal prosecutions that i have heard off.
So then they get fined (which only means we will end up paying more for even less) and decide to look at buggering off. They will not be missed.
I am sick of the argument that we need these companies operating within the UK. If Google, Amazon, Starbucks HSBC etc leave the UK market you will have other companies - who do pay their fair share of taxes - replacing them within weeks if not days. All bloody hard talk but none of them can afford to pull out of such a strong series of consumer markets.

Sorry - not strictly true - demographics drive their marketing as well as the geographical locations!
"Those with that potential" means that a move up the demographics profile needs to achieved at some point - so when do they start lending?

If you look at their propositions in detail, you'll understand.

Geographic is an add on, not the main focus.

I.e Trevor the bin man from Rotherham isn't bothered about their presence in the US, Barry the broker might be though.

Really?

Who is going to replace them and why aren't they already here paying loads in tax?

We already lost a minimum of £500 million in Tax per year when 1/4 of the hedge funds left last time Labour started fking about.

Now you and others are happy roughly the same again goes if and when HSBC move their trade and corporate sides out of the UK?

Where is this missing tax coming from now?

You say a company will replace them in weeks or days, who is this company that you know of and why didn't they replace the hedge funds 5 years ago?

Yep I would say the same thing, ask many people and they will turn round and say bankers, ask which ones and they will say the ones with the multi million pound bonuses... they are the ones that the taxpayer bailed out and its disgusting.

This despite the fact that they are traders from the investment bank and not from the retail banks, which was mainly the retail banks that had the issues and needed bailing out.

Its like public sector IT project for NHS failing, costing a lot of money, but as its all the public sector joe bloggs blames the councils as they are the public sector too, those people know no different and don't care to learn what happened.
