James Bond Racist
Discussion
So it seem Rodger Moore is Racist for daring to imply that a black bloke may not be quite in line with the essence of James Bond, the quintessentially British super spy.

Getting really fed up with this, its seems if you even dare to say the word "black" in the wrong context you are labeled a racist, personally I agree with Moore, a black bond does not really fit the MO. It would be bit like casting Shaft as a white guy, just does not fit.
So looks like I am a racist though for saying this.

I think if there was a black Bond, it would be some kind of right-on statement. No one, if asked to picture Bond based on a sartorial and personality-based description, would imagine a black man. James Bond is white, if he were portrayed as a black man it would be as some sort of political statement.
I'm not saying that blacks can't play Bond (because some people are bound to need this spoon-fed to them), just that I don't think they should.
No doubt someone will come along to tell my all about my 'veiled racism', or some such ste. Sod it, they'll only make themselves look a tit.

The author Ian Fleming maybe? Pretty sure he described him as being blue eyed, blonde hair and was the son of a Scottish Laird. I like Idris Elba and think he's an awesome actor, but they didn't ask Daniel Craig to play Nelson Mandela, now did they?
If they want a Black MI6 agent, they should just create a new character, 008 and run a parallel storyline like they did with the Bourne franchise.

Yes, the world has changed since the sixties, but we're talking film characters.
Daniel Craig to play Django in the next film? Morgan Freeman to play John McClane in the next Die Hard?
Lunacy, absolute lunacy. Why jump on a man for speaking sense?
OK so Elba as Bond may not be everyone’s cup of tea but Morgan Freeman would be bloody brilliant as John McClane Daniel Craig to play Django in the next film? Morgan Freeman to play John McClane in the next Die Hard?

I think the very idea of casting Idris Elba as Bond is totally wrong.
He'd be a great 'M'.
Gravitas. British. Gravelly voice. Perfect.
But not Bond. He's such a good actor I'll bet he could make you believe it but it still wouldn't be quite right. But Elba in a big Bond role? Yes, please...and not the predictable bad guy either.

In the same way that Tom Cruise would make a good Martin Luther King?A lot of white actors have played Othello.
I just don’t have a problem with a black Bond (as long as they get a good actor) but understand why others do. I don’t consider those others as racist either ....
