Marvel don't seem to agree - they just made Thor a woman (comic sales went up)

ETA - Oh and they made Captain America black too. And rolled out a hispanic Spiderman. Also, in other non-news, Green Lantern is gay.

That because they are idiot PC conformists with no balls.
Or possibly masters of their craft with bigger balls than you can imagine?
Incredibly naive. Marvel have an increasingly large female and a static male readership. They have made the son of Odin...female. Purely for monetary gain. It's the complete antithesis of diversity.

The Bond (TM) owners realise to change Bond from white to black would lose them money. So it won't happen.

Why does monetary gain make it the antithesis of diversity? Why are you so sure that a black Bond would lose money?

You understand the concept of diversity yes? The idea of including people from different ethnicities and social backgrounds in order for there to be variety?

The motivation for this is not monetary gain, but a recognisation of the prevailing culture. A fairness for all - if you like, instead of lots of money for a few.

Because there hasn't been one.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a black man playing Bond, seriously people get a grip, our secret services are chock full of brown folks these days, Bond films aren't all set in 1961.

But.... Remaking Annie with a black Annie and a black daddy Warbucks is a PC bridge too far, black people don't have ginger hair or take in stray dogs, it's PC gone mad, I'm deeply offended.

Diversity is diversity, it doesn't have to have a motivation. The pursuit of monetary gain is something else.

The closet current analogy (for superheroes) would be the new Fantastic Four film, where Jonny Storm (Human Torch) is now black, where he once was white.

Craft? Not sure. Bigger balls? Don't think they have any do they? Try looking at who owns them!

I understand the word 'diversity'. I do not recognise a concept of diversity.

Women must be so proud, they've gone from a mostly covered up man to a woman with her tits half hanging out.

That is equality at work right there hehe

Really? Late era Roger Moore is exactly the same character as Dalton or Craig's Bond? Or the same as the books?

Basically he just needs to be a posh seeming secret agent who's a bit handy and gets on well with the ladies. The idea that he needs to be white to somehow preserve the character seems daft to me.
Given the back story, he is a scottish son of a laird, with a swiss mother who went to an English public school and then joined the Navy. (not sure about Uni). Just how many black people could fit that set of conditions?
Not many. That back story was just Fleming fitting him to Connery though, so arguably everyone since didn't really match. Given that he's also supposed to be in his 30's I still think a black guy is less of a stretch than Moore hehe
