Grouping people together and then tarring them with a negative connotation removes their individuality and makes it much easier to hate them. As to evidence, does 'history' count?
Presumably you're all over the anti Christianity threads taking offence at comments taking the piss out of Jesus, then?I don't answer to you, and I'll comment or not comment on anything I feel like.
Why can't people be offended by religion.
So many people are quick to defend those who cannot prove their vile faith's (of any kind)
"With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil — that takes religion."
Don't back up those who have a deluded world view as they have plenty of false reason to feel good. Why not back up those who are instantly pariahs for daring to be agnostic or just plain despondent to religion.

On the flip side - these concerned parents... why aren't they speaking directly with the plod?
Seems like everyone is trying to use everyone else as an excuse to dance around the issue.
Maybe they just approached their local councillor.#Seems like everyone is trying to use everyone else as an excuse to dance around the issue.

A mildly amusing corruption of a religious phrase is one thing. I wouldn't use it at work or at home to describe Muslims though, even as a joke.
Do people still refer to Jewish people as "4x2s"? Its in the same ball park IMO. However, I won't froth at the mouth, call the equalities commission or report the post, but I don't think its a polite way to refer to Muslims.
Then we go onto using snack bar as a generalisation of potential terrorist / religious extremist. Maybe this is not what was intended, but it is how it has been perceived.
Responsibility is with the author, not with the reader to perceive it "correctly".
This is a generalisation too far. The corrupted phrase is common across all Islam, and I can understand how using it to describe potential terrorists could be offensive to some. I liken it to instances where flying a St George cross is immediately classified as EDL behaviour.
TTwiggy is getting a lot of stick on here, but I agree with them tackling the use of snack bar corruption to describe islamic extremists.
Its not a large step to implying that anyone who uses the "god is great" phrase is about to hop on a plane and execute tied up civilians.
I would be happier if the title read "Easter getaway for would be jihadists" or similar.
I known most won't agree with me, and believe they are free to make insensitive comments.
Which they are.
I just don't happen to agree with them.
ps for avoidance of doubt/ rebuttal of silly replies, I don't support terrorism or extremism of any kind, and can eat 3 shredded wheat.
