Guard paid off

Police paid off

Owner paid off / in on it

Does that cover all bases?

Unbelievable! The whole thing seems like a farce, apart from the thieves, who seem to know exactly what they were doing so hats off to them.
amazing apathy over what must be in the top ten high value targets in London.

Seems a bit odd. I wonder if they get a bunch of false alarms from there or something?

The BBC need to get with the program. I am not sure what they're playing at.

They report that the police were notified that an alarm had gone off, but it's too early to say how the way that call was classified related to the outcome.

For their next news item they run with the thief sentenced for 4 years for doing over a shop after announcing it first on social media.

Perhaps if these Easter safety deposit box raiders had announced it before hand on social media they'd have been caught?

Someone should start searching social media profiles for people adopting gangster like poses while pointing a Hilti drill at an angle towards the ceiling.

This is nothing new.

We had a connected alarm at one of our shops.
Got a phone call from the monitoring service to say it had been tripped.
We were asked to attend to ensure everything was ok but to wait for the police before entering.
Sat outside 30mins, then rang the police.
Apparently we weren't a priority and it could take upto 6 hours for them to attend (or even not at all if they got busy).
We let ourselves in, all ok.
Rang the police back to inform them
Treated to a telling off for endangering myself.

How much truth in the rumours that the contents of some of the boxes were "ill gotten gains".
with the police all over this now some owners may have to explain how and when they obtained the contents of the safety deposit box.
When will the film be out.

To be fair to the police, they're all pretty busy trying to catch motorists doing 35 in a 30 limit while on their way home.

Standard now reporting that as well as the security guard that was called out and couldn't be arsed to go further than the front door ("not paid enough mate") it turns out the police were also called in the early hours of Friday, and they couldn't be arsed to check it out properly either.

The last piece I saw about this on the news suggested that there had been a lot of false alarms over that period due to that underground fire.

Not an excuse though.

Exactly, if an alarm is to be Policed it will need to have at least 2 detectors activated which will generate a confirmed alarm. Some forms of alarm communication will even tell the monitoring station what zones have been tripped although this may not be the case in this situation.

Key-holders to the property will also informed of the activation so the police can gain access if required.

My question would be why the key-holders never bothered turning up either, that is unless the only key-holder informed was the company who supplied the security guard who said he couldn't see any problem.

Would also be interesting to know what alarm was installed as most alarms will show on the keypad what zones have been activated.

Interesting CCTV footage of the 'Heist' http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/hatton-garden...

Watching the end and looking at street view it looks like they come out on Greville st through the left door of 'L Fox & co'
