Turns out they were wearing builders overalls and dust masks. Ban the builders overalls doesn't have quite the same ring to it does it.

Can anyone in the know illustrate what sort of drill and gear is needed to do this. I heard mention of a 3,000 lb drill. Surely they aren't easy to come by.

Lol. I figured it was some mega drill to cut through 45 cm steel doors. One can almost admire the mastermind behind this

Doesn't really take a mastermind for this one. Get some burly blokes and decent drilling/cutting equipment and you're most of the way there. They didn't even get the tricky part right, disabling the alarm.

As others have said, they rode their luck as the police didn't respond to the alarm going off and the security guard that did show up only looked through the window.

This was a really masterminded heist.

The last piece I saw about this on the news suggested that there had been a lot of false alarms over that period due to that underground fire.
Possibly the thieves set off a series of false alarms over a period of time to piss of the police. Then, with the police classifying it as a PITA installation, they did the heist.

Just to say, this is still up. They obviously check the internet as well as they do their alarms laugh

IIRC the recent Sunday Mirror front page claimed the video of the men with wheelie bins had led police to identify those involved and arrests were imminent, within days. It's now Tuesday so presumably BiB will be in the vans on their way.....
