While some of your points are not entirely without merit, the Greeks did not invent modern democracy. Oddly the ancient Greek version may well have greater legitimacy.

I was going to go on and say something quite similar, re ancient Greeks, but it was turning into an essay and I didn't think I should subject that sort of torrent of prose on anyone - while just trying to correct the point that modern democracy wasn't one of our own claims....
