What's the point of voting? Really. Whatever happens, a bunch of liars get in; at least with the new green and purple liars they haven't already got previous for messing the country up, so that is a bonus.

Yes, people fought and died for the right to have a free democracy; but they didn't die for a bunch of scheming, lying self-pleasurers who say anything to get elected.

It is just broken. frown

I'm not old enough to remember the 1992 election however from what I've read John Major used to go up and down the country and speak to people from a soap box. Can you imagine any of the leaders doing that now?

Surely proof that the prime minister is a PHer and reads this thread?

Yeah, but their pre voting verbal diarrhoea is astounding. They get a slot on a TV debate and think they are in with a shout and it gets self fulfilling in a way. The manifesto from the Greens is scary, I mean really scary. OK they are not going to be in control anytime soon but if they have a say, they will be petulant about to their own ends. Allowing this lot to have a say, well, we get what we deserve in the polls.

TBF, at least they have some sort of conviction - Ok, it isn't a beneficial conviction, I'll agree to that - but at least it isn't lowest common denominator, appeal to everyone and no one style like the main parties do; they've formed a party based on something rather than nothing. (The quality of that something is a different question to my mind, as you can tell I am working on the basis we are being lied to from the start...)

What is needed is truth and honesty, and I have zero confidence in our political system to deliver those.

I think real truth and integrity and political ambitions are rare any day, be it in the past or in the future. We work with what we have.
