So if their MPs want one so much but will then hammer media to make people choose to stay in, what is their motivation? They want to be out, or they want people to have a choice but will happily let them then be coaxed into making the choice to stay in?

Just confused by the motivations.

Personally I think 'something' will happen to make us not have a referendum by then.

No it is not, unless the SNP gets more than 50% of the Scottish vote. Winning all the seats in FPTP with 45% would leave things in the same position as after last year's referendum.

I can see your point about 50%. But they'll argue that with every seat that's 100% of the seats!

They're doimg their best to distance themselves from a second referendum (nudge nudge wink wink to their hardcore) so they'll get votes from non-independencists on the basis of being "Scottish".

I don't think even the SNP could justify a second referendum on the back of a majority of votes, let alone seats, as it's not in their manifesto. But they are a party that does a lot of things without justification.

At least ithe election is soon and we can find out - it's a great relief not to be discussing a vote for years and years before it, a la September 2014
