Heathrow Expansion

Conveniently Boris is doing a runner on the day of the vote.
“The Mayor of London will join a legal challenge against Heathrow's third runway if it is approved by Parliament.
Four councils and Greenpeace announced they would seek a judicial review if MPs gave the go-ahead to the plans on 25 June.”

“Boris Johnson to miss Heathrow vote as he will be ‘living embodiment of global Britain’ on overseas trip, confirms PM
'Foreign secretary early next week will be what I would describe as the living embodiment of global Britain,' the prime minister said”

Yeah, disgraceful.
I'd just hitch up a tow rope to the car and tow the thing out, and with them still chained to it.

Considering Gatwick has only one runway used day in and out and suffers from a lot of delays due to that I am puzzled about why Heathrow is going to get another runway.
What is the cost of 2nd runway at Gatwick compared to another at Heathrow which seems to need a lot more digging or building in a more built up area?
Finally, will this not mean more traffic on the western side of the M25? It's up to 5/6 lanes now and still busy. This seems the airport version of building two shopping centers around the Thames crossing on the eastern side .. good planning that! What congestion ?
The modern world is LCC's going to cheap airports. Given that and keeping things spread around and choice it does seem stupid to again just load up Heathrow.

For crying out loud, just ram this thing through and fast track it. All these people have done is delayed the inevitable and caused so many year of delay and money to spent on review after review. Ram it though and bulldoze he houses.

I see someone's not bothered to read any actual facts about the LHR 3rd runway/LGW 2nd runway.... What is the cost of 2nd runway at Gatwick compared to another at Heathrow which seems to need a lot more digging or building in a more built up area?

There's nothing like having a joined up transport strategy

25000 complaints. You really should get locked in a padded room.
And loving this quote. John Stewart, chairman of the Heathrow Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise (Hacan) said: “I would expect complaints to rise, certainly initially, if a third runway was built.

Also in that report is a promise that fewer people will be affected by noise after the expansion. How's that? By knocking down their houses?49% or 25,000 complaints originate from TEN people.
