Nicola agrees with Dave.
Well I thought she was saying that she agrees with him but doesn't as he is bound to use an overly negative campaigning strategy that would make English People/Scots living in England/F**king Tories (all the same, really) rebel against the proposition that she supports and thus show the fundamental difference between Nat looies and everyone else which would then allow her to call another referendum. Which would be a positive thing for her. But of course she won't be able to so because the people that run the UK will tell her where to stick it. Which will then all be the fault of the evil Tories again (like the oil price and the fact every single person on the planet is conspiring to not give her a currency).

Pure nonsense of course but something the neds from Maryhill will vote for.

"I'm much more interested in the reasons to stay in the European Union, the positive reasons, being part of a single market of 500 million people, the investment in jobs that come with that but also the social and employment protections."

If you remove the word European and reduce the number by a little over 400 million........

I'm intending on a long weekend/week holiday on the isle of Mull a lovely walking and playing on the beach with the kids holiday.

I really hope there are no ProYes signs and debate still ongoing as I fear hat would sour what will be a really nice break.
I was there yesterday and saw none.

Sorry it's taken me a few days to reply, but here are my thoughts about the Scottish Cup Final issues. The enquiry will hopefully get to the bottom of this matter:

1. While I don't condone the pitch invasion, the background is important here - you need to bear in mind that Hibs have lost the league cup final this year, lost the semi-final of SPL promotion, and won the Scottish Cup in the last minute for the first time in 114 years. Emotions were extremely high when the final whistle was blown.

2. The stewarding and policing was focused on the Rangers fans end, in fact there were no police at the Hibs end as the final whistle was blown. While I accept they would expect more trouble from the Rangers fans, that has to be seen to be a mistake and a contributing factor.

3. Whistle was blown and a few Hibs fans stormed on to the pitch to celebrate and stewards stood back and let them on. It's not reasonable for anyone to expect a few stewards to try to stop those fans and there was no police at the Hibs end, as above.

4. At this point, it's a friendly pitch invasion which every country sees and there is no immediate issue other than fans celebrating.

5. Some Rangers fans storm on to the pitch and start fighting Hibs fans. There's footage of this all over YouTube and stewards let them on. They return to the stand, the steward lets them in after watching them assault people, and then they return and are let on the pitch again to fight more!

6. At this point, a few Hibs fans are also involved in skirmishes.

7. Rangers fans return to the pitch and sing The Billy Boys (a loyalist sectarian song which is banned from football arenas) and hundreds/thousands in the stands join in, to antagonise the Hibs fans.

8. The police cleared the pitch and furore died down.

9. Police and authorities turn a blind eye to singing of banned songs and flares from the Rangers end.

That's how I saw things. No one likes to see that on the pitch or broadcast around the world, especially given the good reputation Scottish fans have.

Shortly after that, a hilarious thing happened - Rangers press release. Imagine the school bully getting a punch on the nose at playtime from a guy the year below and complaining to the headmaster? That's what their press release was like. An absolute joke.

The good news of course is that we weren't promoted so we'll hopefully have a year off the Rangers nonsense. And we won. Brilliant.

Oh, and for those of you who don't think this matter has any place in this thread - you are wrong. This thread is a discussion point for various Scottish matters and this is news. Look at some of the guff which has been discussed in this thread over the years...

The background excuses nothing. Fans should never enter the pitch, period.

All your following excuses (note, excuses, not reasons) follow from that pitch invasion. The simple fact is, if the Hibs fans had stayed off the pitch none of the trouble would have happened.

I was ashamed of the Hibs support. They totally let down the club.

I agree. But that happens in football and other sports. C'est la vie.

The level of denial is qute astonishing. Fortunately from what I've read journalists and commentators actually there, and with a good view, disagree significantly with the version of events above.

I note also there was no mention of Rangers players and staff being assaulted at their workplace...

Where were the 25k Hibs fans last season anyway? They averaged 9k at Easter Road. Typical small team mentality.

Och, away and dry your eyes techno!

The better team won on the day. End of.

As for the pitch invasion and associated trouble, no one in their right mind wants to see that. But let's see what the inquiry says. It's funny how that sort of bother follows Rangers fans about though, eh?

Here is some interesting footage for you. An example of the blameless Rangers fans. rolleyeshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnPd1HlGYBY

By the way, we took 31K to the league cup final. Of course I'd love to see more regular supporters at Easter Road.

The Old Firm have a significant biopoly on Scottish football, sadly. Too many glory hunters from around Scotland follow them. Support your local team, I say.

This thread has been running for several years and I don't think I've ever seen you post on it once, so please don't bother with "if you're intent on ruining this thread" nonsense.

And if that's all you have to say, please don't bother returning either.

I've posted a few times.

So i will happily say to take the football and all football related pish to a football thread.

I didn't realise there was a rule that states you have to post before to allow you to voice an opinion..

So take the football pish away.

Oh. So you haven't seen my posts, therefore they don't exist, and I'm not allowed an opinion.

You sure you didn't actually vote YES? You sound like one of them.

It's not all I have to say. I'd like to add that anyone that tries to end an argument with "End of" is a fking walloper. So if that's the best you can do, please don't bother returning. smile
Grow up.

Ad anyone who says "Scottish football is crap anyway" has a strange view of the world. Of course it's not as big as lots of other leagues - we're a small country. But the Scottish Cup Final was a far better game to watch regardless who you support than the FA Cup Final.

End of.

Well it was news, until laughing boy turned up and told me off. We weren't discussing football per se, we were discussing the events around it which are news. Let's drop it until the inquest is complete at least and perhaps we can discuss it then.

I know it's hard for you, but if you could just stop lying and making things up, the standard of the debate would increase immeasurably.
Stop lying? Where have I lied?

Why don't you chip in too and perhaps the standard of the debate will increase immeasurably.

But play the ball, not the man. (for the anti-football brigade, that's a figure of speech)
