Scottish Referendum / Independence - Vol 7

I wonder if this is part of the reason pollsters having been getting it so wrong recently?
If you ask the same people the same questions over and over again you're probably likely to get similar answers are you not?
Bigger turnout for EUref would suggest lots of "non habitual" voters that pollsters might struggle to incorporate into findings. If you ask the same people the same questions over and over again you're probably likely to get similar answers are you not?

You're one of them there "undecideds" aren't you?
You do realise that Brexit will be blamed on you - they've almost given up (well except backslash3ajd) blaming the people who actually voted leave - they'll be coming for the undecideds next.....
They've never picked on the ones that didn't vote - almost as if they didn't matter (well till it came to bonkers statistics like 65% of the country did not vote for leave and st like that)
Breath easy PM - your secret is safe - I won't tell them........

I (actually really do) know you make your own mind up and it can be frustrating where you're at, (not geographically! ), but there are many who see through the 'bluff and bluster', and those same people will triumph in the face of adversity rather than expect to be spoon fed bullst.
It's a leveling exercise, (call it Darwinism.), the people who keep this bit of the country going will soon vacate if the worst case scenario ever occurs and it'll be left bereft.
Scotland will be great once more, (for the right reasons), but it might take a few years of evolution for the self entitled muppets to die off.

Can't leave it like that Roddy
R11co indicated earlier he was polled on a regular basis
I'd pointed out pollsters don't want to talk to people who are firmly fixed in any camp - they are not the people who decide referendums or elections. It's the undecided that actually hold the balance of power regarding the result.
Ergo R11co is clearly an undecided (he may not be a true undecided) but he's certainly playing the game of being an undecided or pollsters wouldn't keep chasing him.
Now Polls influence results we might not like it but they do so how do people buck against them limit their influence if you like.....
Recent elections and referendums
Now for the Scottish indy ref the polls pretty much had Noo in the lead until the last few polls so no real surprise for anyone when the answer was no but the result was not as close as the Polls had suggested.
2015 Elections - the term shy tories was coined to explain the results which went against the polls
2016 EU referendum - Polls had remain with it in the bag yet the result was leave
Shy brexiters clearly wasn't going to cut it......
2016 American Election - Polls called it for Hillary - Trump Wins
Shy Trumps - yeah right something is clearly wrong
Fundamentally Pollsters have concentrated on the "undecided" and the undecided have had more than one influence in the game
Lets take Brexit as a specific
It was going to be remain - the polls told us this
I don't know a motivated remainer (seems there are a few more motivated now but at the time it was status quo nowt changes - the safe option) but they were a given
Fringe Remain people - iffy area - they can relax it's not essential they vote - busy people an all that
Passionate Leave people - well they are going to lose the polls told them but they aren't gonna change their mind
Fringe leavers - they are gonna lose too but if you are going to lose no harm in voting you never know
Undecided - well some clearly never decided but some claimed to be for remain in order to ensure the fringe leavers were a little more motivated
And I still don't think the Pollsters have got it yet
Online petitions are even more fun
I always go with the consensus
I signed the EU Referendum protest petition as Donald Duck (someone had a way better plan than I did)
I signed the make Hillary President by virtue of the popular vote as Donald J Trump with a New York Zip code (trump towers if you want a giggle)
I signed the petition to stop tallow being used in the new £5 note as Anabel Moo
Now there has been a recent Poll on PH re Brexit
I selected Remain in that Poll - I'm thinking R11co has been playing a similar game and for that I salute him

This is a shame.
I recall burger flagging up how it was hugely surpassing expected volumes which was great and at last a govt scheme which pays off. Sadly that was simply because it was new and people wanted to try it out. Now the novelty has worn off it's not delivering so tax payer is paying again.

One does wonder if that kinda backfired. L.O.L.
Did they do that for the Scottish Referendum too?? If they did it passed me by but I'm not living close to Scotland......One does wonder if that kinda backfired. L.O.L.

It will be swept under the carpet along with the Nats telling the Tories they don't want to control Scotlands welfare after campaigning for it.This is a shame.

Burger will come in crowing about some truly insignificant snippet then slink off again to feverishly search through more Reverend/wings rubbish.
Cue lots of shouting from the Nats about Brexit today to deflect away from these education statistics.

Scotland’s education system has recorded its worst ever performance in an international survey and has fallen behind other parts of the UK, it emerged today in a damning indictment of the SNP government’s record during a decade in power.
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) for 2015 found Scotland has tumbled down league tables for maths, reading and science when compared to 34 other developed countries and the UK’s three other home nations.

Depressingly predictable. Since the SNP came to power in 2006 Scotland has transitioned to an outcome-based education system of the type that was tried and discredited in three other territories - South Africa, Australia and certain states of the USA.Outcome Based Education has proven on four occasions now to be a flawed idea, mainly because it places recording and record keeping above actual learning and teaching. The concepts sound great on paper but have only ever worked with very small groups of learners and is very resource intensive (ie. expensive) to implement properly.
In Scotland it was re-branded 'Curriculum for Excellence' to throw the casual researcher off the scent, but the fact that it is based around experiences and outcomes gives the game away that it is just OBE under another name.
The SNP will argue that it was not their idea to move to this model as CfE was originally proposed by the previous Labour/Liberal coalitions, but the transition only started under the SNP and they had ample opportunity to change course in response to the repeated warnings from education professionals. Perhaps the SNP were too busy with their failed independence attempt to notice what was going wrong under their watch.
Anyhoo, Scotland's educational bodies Education Scotland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority have been destroyed by the transition to OBE. Consultants and 'experts' came in to shake up the bodies. Paid exorbitant wages, they prioritised their untested ideologies over practicalities and spent millions of pounds issuing documentation that was big on jargon, full of boilerplate and vague mission statements, but was also never quality checked and therefor riddled with errors and thus revised on a constant basis, leading masses of waste and a continued decline in credibility for the publishers.
This pissed off the experienced and knowledgeable staff working under these consultants to the extent that they retired early or simply left and refused to continue to work for them (most of them being teachers who gave their time, expertise and goodwill over-and-above the day job). As a result the standard of advice, documentation and assessment produced by these bodies is now in the toilet and it is going to take decades to rebuild them, which will need to happen before Scotland can reverse out of the dead-end education system it is currently saddled with.
The PISA ratings are the end result of this failed experiment.

I saw Swinney speak at an event about a month ago when he talked eloquently about the tremendous opportunity and challenge of the education responsibility he had taken on that was outwith his finance comfort zone.
His three predecessors in the role I have mentioned earlier. Hyslop resigned rather than facing a vote of no confidence, Russell was 'retired' after the independence referendum and Constance ridiculed daily for her blatant incompetence as a human being (interesting shoes though).Swinney is about the only semi-competent member of the SNP and it is understandable why he has been given the job, but I fear that the damage has already been done.
SNP Scottish transport minister Mr Yousaf caught driving without insurance.

Well, he has stated he is no expert on transport, including the laws governing it, apparently....http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-pol...
Brilliant credentials for the man in charge of transport policy and legislation in Scotland.
You couldn't make it up.
Is there such a thing as a regular/random stop? Wonder what else they were up to...
Mr Yousaf said: "I believed I was in possession of fully comprehensive insurance, not just for my own car, and as such that I was insured to drive vehicles other than my own."
Does he have a correct understanding of what "fully comprehensive" insurance is?
