this is one thing that has really started to bug me recently is all the champagne socialist celebrities who currently spout off about the current government stance on tax avoidance/ big corporations (amazon/starbucks etc...), what i want to know is how many of them pay the full PAYE tax on all earnings??

Peoples like russell brand, rufus hound, john niven...... i'd love to know if any of them are operating their own limited companies, and utilising the tax breaks that gives them (less tax on dividends etc.....) or do they declare the full ammount as PAYE earnings and pay the full income tax/ NI due on the money? I suspect that they dont pay the full tax they would have to pay declaring it all PAYE. I know its not on the same scale as amazon/ starbucks, but they are also using tax loopholes to their own advantage thus reducing the cut HMRC/the government get.

I take it as a Tory voter, you typed that with a straight face?

Also no hint of irony about a "similar ball park lie" then adding a lie yourself subsequently by stating "no wasting of tax payers money" (The inquiry into the leaked memo was reported to have costed the taxpayer £1.4m)
Reported by who?

The only reference I can find is that a Labour MP tweeted the figure and has since deleted it.

The total cost of the Leveson inquiry was £5.4 million so im calling bullst on the figure above.
Yep hence why I stated "reported", whatever it cost, the taxpayer will ultimately foot the bill

So, on the substantive point of both Salmond and Carmichael having been caught lying, do you think that both should resign or neither?

Well that's a lie.

Where are the Nats complaining about BBC bias now?

Typical SNP argument. Brand the opposition as the enemy. Case closed.

The £1.4m figure has no basis in fact or record. It first appeared on SNP sympathetic social media sites and has since been 'quoted' ad-infinitum by SNP leaders. Repeat a lie often enough......

As I said before, the really scary thing about the SNP movement is that there are a core of its followers who by watching the actions of their leaders (Neil Hay and Mhairi Black with their offensive communications, Salmond and Sturgeon with their active support of criminals, lies and two-faced hypocrisy) now believe that doing wrong is right to further the cause.

Personally I wouldn't want Carmichael to resign, however a by-election should be triggered and he should be able to stand for election again, in Salmond's case it would only be fair that an appropriate punishment should be meted out to him, whatever that would be, lest I be accused of hypocrisy

I so wish the rest of us were as enlightened as you Scottish nationalists.

"Nearly £1 million of taxpayers’ cash has been lavished on the Edinburgh Tram public inquiry – before a single witness has been called."

So pointing out hypocrisy is a "really scary thing"? laugh

Or should only one party be held up to standards that other parties don't?

But, but, but... The Edinburgh Trams are a success. We heard it here only last week from Edinburgher. Why would they need an enquiry into a success?

Too late - he shouldn't have been selected as a candidate as it sends the wrong (right) message to supporters. Likewise Sturgeon should have been bagged for her attempt to influence the outcome of a criminal trial for fraud.

The SNP claimed cybernat activity was not linked to their members, yet Hay and Black kept their nominations as candidates when their vile comments were exposed - in the case of Black she had made them while speaking publicly at an SNP rally so were known to the party before she was selected!

There's the beef - SNP are teflon as far as their core support is concerned because that is how the party portrays its leading figures.

The tram system is all part of their 'fairer society' in Scotland. It now costs a fair bit more to get to the airport, and takes a fair bit longer.
As someone who flies in an out of Edinburgh a fair amount I thought I'd try the tram a couple of time and I can confirm that it's sh*t, slow and expensive.

The bid near the Gyle where is has a few bends is like a Thomas the Tank Engine ride at a fairground. Seems it can't go round corners at more that 5mph. What with that malarkey, all the stops and the stupid single ticket machine on the platform (with big queue) all I got for £5 was a rubbish fairground ride, albeit a long one.

For an extra £3 I could have just jumped in a cab and been there in no time.

I see the SNP can't resist the urge to get a dig in the death of Charles Kennedy. Such lovely, charming people.

He really is a snake, isn't he. Once again the SNP lead by example - being snivelling, snide and disrespectful is OK because the cause is good.

I think this tweet sums Salmond and the SNP up perfectly. Extreme hubris - believing the can make enemies of everyone in pursuit of the ultimate victim complex.

Maybe this is all part of the SNP Good Cop (wee Nicola) / Bad Cop (Fat Eck) routine to help absolve the current Scottish Government of 'heat' when required.. wink

Saying that, he was mostly a tt before.. hehe

Ironically I thought she came out of it really well - her story of sneaking off with him from a Commonwealth conference in Aus to go and see Trainspotting was actually quite human and touching. She surprised me with that.

Absolutely.

I'd imagine his stupidity today has rightly damaged the SNP cause.
