Just to be clear, the sentence you quoted was the headline which HM Treasury assigned to the story.
I can read.

You quoted it because you're happy with it. I'm not.

Historic funding deal will make Scottish Parliament most powerful of its type in the world

But surely if you listen to any Nat, or even read the old white paper, Scotland subsidises England with all that lovely jubbly money they make from Oil, Whiskey, Haggis, Shortbread, Irn-Bru and, er, Tunnocks Tecakes.

Billions is stolen from Scotland and sent south to pay for Wastemonster, Bankers Bonus, HS2 and the occasional pigs head.

With that being the case, why does the Barnett Formula remain with England sending Scotland money (with Scotland being the far richer nation by all accounts) and why do you need powers to borrow?

Skip to 39:50. It's funnier now I've heard it again rofl
I'm against the Tories and everything they stand for, I'm very much a Scottish nationalist, yeah if DC want's to stay in Europe then I'm out (checks SNP buddy over his left shoulder shaking head and mouthing the word no) Erm, I mean I want to stay in Europe, as long as we don't take the Euro and keep everything as it is, that'll be fine.

Good job the majority voted to keep everything as it is then isn't it you sock trumpet?
Just realised its him speaking before it too...
"What do you think of Europe?"
"Aye gid place for hoalidays, ah've goat a hoose in Portugal..."
Brilliant. The guy is a genius. You can hear the sudden realisation that any argument he makes for staying in Europe could be used for staying in the UK. His mind implodes.

£200m to implement

Is that funded 100% by scots, or is that £180m of rUK taxpayers money spunked up the wall to watch the SNP make no changes to e.g. tax take relative to rUK whatsoever?

most powerful what in the world ? toothless, pointless council talking shop?

wrong, wrong, wrong. sigh.

So the end result is

1. Max borrowing powers of £3billion a year which oil price dependant is 2.3% of GDP.
2. This is held for 5 years so in theory SNP could add 11.5% debt to GDP to Scotland or £15billion.
3. It looks like SNP have opted for short term gain over long term as the Treasury gave them a last minute offer of a treasury setup which benefits them greatly in the initial term but then peters off and they may well have lost by the way of reduced Barnett in later years.

Scotland can now borrow set income tax and welfare but due to them accepting this solution they have the issue that Westminster could reduce budgets on a UK wide basis which directly cuts in Scotland so unless SNP increase taxes then they will reduce their own budget.

I could see Scotland reducing income tax if possible but they will never raise the rate beyond the level in the rest of the UK. As such this is a pointless waste of £200m

You will have to have your finances and forecasts independently verified.
Yet again, so much for independence.
Yep that's the kicker - they rejected that in the Holyrood only the other week now fully signed up for it.

U Turn indeed.

They will have to rely on OBR forecasts for oil tax revenue which really will scupper them / unless they state we are borrowing £xb to cover off the gap.

Good question. Let me look. Oh. It's the latter. You and I get to pay for the majority of it. ****ing great.

You know what, before the Nats starting whingeing there was a perfectly good administrative framework in place which benefited from economies of scale, existing processes, technology, etc.

Now we're given them hundreds of millions to create a secondary apparatus to do the exact same thing only worse (see police problems, Forth Road Bridge disaster, worsening healthcare, declining literacy and the worst access to tertiary education for the poorest in society in the UK) they are demanding more and more and more.

I find the sense of entitlement and bare faced cheek quite incredible.

What a crap start to the day, just opened my shop and not even got my coat off, when in wanders our prospective SNP candidate, with her two companions. "I am just visiting local businesses to see if there is anything I can do to help?" "No thanks" "Oh can I just leave you some information then?" "No" I said "I'm not interested"
"What" she says "in politics" "No" I said "The SNP, I hate everything you stand for"

There followed a short stunned silence from them, followed by a rapid exit. I truly detest them and their politics of hatred and grievance, what a heap of crap all based on an imaginary line on a map. I get closer every day to wanting to leave Scotland for ever.

No really, the tramp last seen eating Lees teacakes and shouting outside Tunnocks is going to have the 300 year Act of Union repealed. Honest.

I do hope they're wasting someone else's money.

I agree, what part of 'democracy' don't they understand? It makes me embarrassed to be Scottish.

That could be fun if it happened to me, Alex Salmond is my MP for westminster and me and the wife despise him. I have no idea who my scottish parliament MP is for the SNP, nor do i care, at the moment its a toss up between the Tories and the Lib Dems as to who is strongest bet to try and get them out, but Gordon is too solid an SNP base.

I can only hope my parents (and my) old constituency of kincardine and mearns has stronger Tory support as that is the second party there now behind the SNP.

I had the same on the run up to the GE.

When asked if they could rely on my vote I said 'no'.

Then they said, 'Oh, why is that? Is it a tactical vote?'

I said, 'No, the SNP disgust me.'

Off they fked.

So SNP Scottish govt appear to totally agree with Osbournes budget by mirroring the policies. Hypocrisy of the highest level as they challenge the nasty party in Westminster yet do the same in Holyrood.

Anyway I hope the tag line Yellow Tories catches on now as they have been found out.

Sadly it wont, as the 'Its all the nasty party in westminsters fault' card will be valid for ever and a day in these guys eyes.

Its the political equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and humming real loud.
