There is a better chance of nailing jelly to the ceiling than changing fluffs mind.

Trying to do so will cause the worst attrition loop of the thread.

Just move on and accept it as a minority view.

I assume that the Scots like the EU but not the Union because Scottish voices are drowned out by predominantly the English in the Union and drowned out by predominantly everyone else in the EU. They would still be an irrelevance to the direction of laws and power but just an irrelevance to a broader group. Instead of being part of a country with an imperialist past (in which they enthusiastically participated), they would be part of a union with countries with imperialist pasts, holocausts, ethnic cleansing, pogroms and, most recently, disgraceful treatment of the Greeks in their time of need. Perhaps they want to participate enthusiastically in those too now?

No, I regard the UKofGB&NI as a hostile foreign power.
You realise the UK includes Scotland? Scotland is hostile to Scotland now? Or is it really only the English Westminster Tories you are hostile to?
The UKofGB&NI is a supra-national institution, the de-facto rump of the British Empire, I fail to see that it has any legitimate claim over the sovereignty of any of its constituent nations.

I would prefer it gone, utterly. smile

Apart from the legal agreement of the act of Union as ratified recently in a democratic referendum you mean?

Yes clearly jackbooted English Tory oppression.

Well, with NI, England and Wales you may have a point. However, Scotland has actively and very recently voted to be a part of it and the only part to have a democratic say. Therefore, it has more legitimate claim over Scotland than any other part.

Let me summarise

English folk don't want Scotland to leave as it means the UK is getting smaller and that is a bad thing.
But English folk do want the EU to get smaller by losing the UK and that is a good thing.

Do you get the feeling English people just think about England and what's best for that mythical land somewhere north by north east of Guildford?
Really?

Never heard such utter rollocks in my life. Do you write the scripts for some comedy show?

I'm english living in Scotland for 21 years with two kids born here, one born in England.
My mothers Scottish and has lived in England for 45 years.

Both of us have commented on how nasty things have gotten in Scotland since the SNP stirred everything up. But I guess that'll just be blamed on the english too.

Unbelieveable.

Try putting some salt, vinegar and ketchup on those chips on your shoulder.... wink

You keep referencing the British Empire as a 'bad thing' yet want to jump into bed with Spain and France and others who also had huge empires at the same time?

And if we're talking about historical 'crimes' then I'm not sure how the EU, with it's main player being a certain Germany is any more palatable.

Not to mention the rather obvious and significant part Scotland played in the British Empire in the first place. It being a British Empire and all.

I would recommend that my English friends also regard it as such, because its feudal theocracy serves them no better.

(I despise the monarchy significantly more than the Union which I view as more useless than malign.)

You do realise that this stuff doesn't make you look clever or make your case, don't you?

It makes you look like a swivel-eyed loon, only half a step removed from David Icke. Or do you think Liz is in fact a lizard alien too?

One thing about SNats is that they on the whole racist, and the immigration issue plays strongly with them.
That'll be why the SNP support immigration and oppose the visa restrictions the current UK government are imposing... rolleyes
It is becoming quite apparent that official SNP policy and SNat wishes are diverging.

He spouts that crap on a regular basis to make his racism and sectarian bigotry seem an intellectual stance rather than the antisocial behaviour that it amounts to.
