"ALEX Salmond has attacked London as the “dark star of the economy, inexorably sucking in resources, people and energy” from the rest of the UK – while promising independence will provide “a northern light” to rebalance the economy of the British Isles."
That makes no sense if you were going for a low tax economy. It would suck money and people from the rest of the UK to get the benefit of the lower tax, and thus Scotland would be another dark star that he was complaining about.
i think you did not understand the snp definition of "low tax economy" . we are actually transitioning to it right now . the tax take is getting lower and lower as more people lose their jobs in the oil and supporting industries. That makes no sense if you were going for a low tax economy. It would suck money and people from the rest of the UK to get the benefit of the lower tax, and thus Scotland would be another dark star that he was complaining about.

PFI buildings, and the responsibility for their maintenance, belong to private companies...
So did Prestwick Airport.... Several years ago the SNP Scottish government claimed they had a solution to the problem of PFI owned infrastructure required for public services. It was deceptively titled the 'Scottish Futures Trust', but since its announcement in 2008 it has been revealed to be the typical feckless rhetoric that the SNP fills the ears of its ignorant supporters with, as the situation in Edinburgh (repeated across the whole of Scotland) shows.
Just another project to add to the catalogue of failure of the SNP in government that everyone was distracted from as the independence campaign rumbled on.
The SNP are demonstrably a group of incapable shysters whose one strength is that they can for the moment rely on the loyalty of a large group of willing, blinkered idiots.

I've lost track of the number of times one of 'burger's assertions has been blown away by evidence presented in the very next post. I've done it myself on several occasions.
His opinions are completely discredited TBH and appear to emerge from the standard mentality of a Nationalist that their truth is whatever they say it is, yet he keeps coming back as if he is arguing from a reasoned standpoint.

The thing about crazy people; the don't know they're crazy. That's what makes them crazy
Nothing to add to that one. Edinburger said:
No - I'm absolutely not a SNP die hard. I've voted Labour and Conservative in the past (as well as SNP) and I won't be voting SNP in May either.
So just for clarity, we now know that Mr Salmond has not (verbatim) said that the Scots were fundamentally better than the English.
For clarity; absence of proof is not proof of absence. So just for clarity, we now know that Mr Salmond has not (verbatim) said that the Scots were fundamentally better than the English.
As so often, your logic is fundamentally flawed.

I am surprised that no one here has mentioned shock and dismay over the fact the Edinburgh Council are closing seventeen schools indefinitely from Monday due to safety concerns.
This is a massive issue in Edinburgh for pupils (weeks away from exams), families for childcare, etc. Perhaps NoNeed's Google alerts haven't picked the story up.
Before your all start, this down to Labour ineptitude as PFI is their toy.

I believe an earlier contributor pointed out that if we dissolved the squawking chamber, fired the entire Scottish Government, MSP's, and the civil serpents that run the whole shooting match Edinburgh would not be closing these schools never mind the cuts that are ongoing that severly affect the very weakest of Scottish society..

So Dugdale and Davidson published their tax returns today - Nicola Sturgeon has not (as yet)

Am I the only one who couldn't give a fk about this tax return bks?
For one surely by definition if they're up to anything untoward it's not going to be highlighted in their tax return and two, given the biggest issue seems to be that Cameron's maw bunged him to avoid IHT that's just common sense that anyone with a house, partner, children and a few quid would be doing anyway.
The sooner the proles realise being an MP is a thankless task, on a shaky fixed term contract, with irregular and anti social hours where every keyboard warrior and journalist in the land wants a piece of your private life, and all for 9-5 bank manager money the better.
And as for schools, with no children it's not on my radar but when the education 'minister' is this pleb someone really does need to think of the children.

I reported the above post to FB for breaking its rules regarding inciting racial hatred. I advise any right-thinking person to do the same as IMO it steps over the boundary.
Seems it has been taken down as No need reply mine an Wings have all been removed also the item about angus roberts making up DWP v HMRC staff numbers.Still gald the mods removed the racist bits as while the image was news supporting it is in poor taste just as would supporting a burning saltair

Can you imagine the outrage from the snp if someone posted a picture of a burning saltire? But then Nicola seems to be outraged at a lot of things, but not the dismal performance of her party.
There is a saltire in the Union Flag, perhaps they were trying to burn it out NoNeed said:
