So take the football pish away.
Agreed. We've asked a few times now.

Ironic, though, that way way back in these threads I mentioned several times that the whole Independence campaign was tapping into the undercurrent of sectarian tribalism that a large part of Scottish society just does not want to let go of, and it would seem the mask has slipped on PH.

I find it totally repulsive and indicative of a society that is intellectually redundant when political views are being aligned with football loyalty. My two nephews have been indoctrinated into the ways of Celtic by their father - harmless in itself IMO as it is borne of misguided loyalty to a religion they take no active part in, but it also appears that they think this should dictate their opinion on Scottish independence.

Isn't that the whole strategy of the SNP?

Och, away and dry your eyes techno!

The better team won on the day. End of.
I agree. But we're not discussing the game here.

You appear to have wiped the various assaults of Rangers players/staff from history. Thankfully journalists witnessed them first hand.

A handful of Rangers fans reacted, true. A bigger handful sang a 'naughty' song, true. Tens of thousands of Hibs fans invaded the pitch, goaded opposition fans, some confronted/assaulted players, many caused significant damage. In front of the world. And all because your diddy team won a cup we've won 33 times.

Given your statements about the conduct of Rangers fans prior to the game, the irony is on another level.

In essence it is, yes. But I'm not even sure if they actually want independence these days - I think their arse would have collapsed if they won the vote, it seems to me that they are fairly content to rabble rouse from the sidelines, decrying the Union whilst basking in the protections it offers.

Then again the Yes Scotland luminaries would probably vanish off of the face of the earth if a Yes vote happened and it went down the swanny - "fk you Jack, I'm alright".

Never been to a football match in my life, and I doubt I ever will given stories like this.
From the outside, this is about the behaviour of football fans; whether they are Hibs or Rangers supporters is utterly irrelevant, it seems to be part of the culture that goes with supporting a team and does not reflect well on the wider football-related community. It just comes across as a very unattractive, small-minded, divisive approach to things.
Count me out.

Moving on from the fitba', (Which has its own threads and everything.....)

I see Hosie has fallen on his pork sword. Bye then! Smug faced arrogant tt, so self righteous during the indy campaign, then quel surprise, he's just as fallible as any other politician.

My mate see's him wandering about Dundee like he is a god, he must love living in 'YES' City.

My main worry just now is that i am more edged towards staying in Europe than out, mainly as leaving could just lead us into bureaucratic hell for 20 years as we try and untangle ourselves fo no massive benefit once it all settles.

However i am aware of becoming a massive hypocrite from being a staunch NO during the indy ref, and hearing the same arguments used by the In EU campaign, the difference is, if UK left Europe, we would cope, financially i mean, some unpleasantness, but we would carry on.

With Indy ref, if we were independent now, we would be seeing massive tax rises, or massive service cuts (more probably both) and no one to blame it on.

I just like Europe, once the daily mail types are ignored, as a group of countries we have similar ideals, politicians just ruin it all.

It's one of the reasons I voted no. We love division, religion, football, east/west, north/south and now yes/no. Yea I know the above are all connected in various ways but given independence we'd be split again within a few years

Westminster would be blamed for all problems post-independence.

The first minister also met newly-elected London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Monday morning, where they discussed issues including the ..... importance of building economic connections between Scotland and London.

So closer, not severance?

It's not about football.

Oh and Burger, every man and his dog knows it was Hibs that started the fighting. There is even a petition for wee nippy to go over it LOL.

My mrs noted that Sturgeon actually praised Hibs for winning the cup (her husbands a big fan apparently?) but made no mention at all about the scenes after the match, as First Monister of scotland, she should be decrying the actions seen.

But yeah, less fitba\religious based fitba issues....mare politics. smile

Strictly speaking you are correct - it is about law and order following a football match.

Still OT for this thread though.

What do you disagree with? That it is a law and order issue or that it is not directly related to the Scottish independence issue?

When a specific issue is being discussed elsewhere I think it best to keep this thread clean of it. If it's surrounding a politician's response or input, I think it fair game to post here if each post is genuinely debating the specific political aspect.

Otherwise - rotten eggs the lot of you!

I think it is a political issue as I posted this earlier, you may have missed it. http://www.vanguardbears.co.uk/article.php?i=107

When a section of society (in this case rangers fans) is discrimitated against by a wider section, and that is done with those in official positions looking the other way, you have a real problem. A political problem.
