Stereotyping - well those facts are on average so if it's only half the population women men kids babies then the average would be 18 pints a week AND 1.8ltrs of vodka every week.
I strongly suspect that those stats are grossly exaggerated in a futile attempt by the SNP government to justify their continued pursuit of their minimum pricing policy, despite it being illegal.

The SNP have a real problem with accepting that they got something badly wrong, and will go to the n'th degree to prove the world's black is their white.

Some interesting observations from a disillusioned former SNP stalwart.

Long read.

He's deluded on a number of points I think.

1. He thinks the SNP are left of centre
2. He thinks people only voted Tory out of fear, which is patronising at best
3. He thinks the greens have any credibility at all, even outside transport policy.
4. He's a self confessed communist but agrees it will never work.
5. He's been a parliamentary candidate three times but doesn't seem to have even won biggrin

Thanks for the update, I was going to read it but now I can't be arsed. Think I'll go and put the kettle on instead of reading that tripe.

I've missed including the jist of his main point, which is that if Yes supporters keep quiet they might be able gain more support. By ramming it down our throats at every opportunity they are driving people away. It's just he takes a long time to get there and some of his reasoning is floored.

Sorry Simoid, I missed that somehow.

Unless I'm missing something, it kind'a supports my assumptions.

So those who expect the moon on a plate were more likely to vote yes, whereas those who have no such expectations were more likely to vote no because they've established themselves on a fairly steady platform and don't want it to change?

Maybe I read more into it but that's what I got.
Indeed. t's no bother, think the only reason I remember it from previously was because I posted it smile

Following on from the "getting there" point - the bbc article reports the income group most likely to vote no was £20k-£30k PA. I suppose that will encompass a large number of "getting theres".

Once again - thank fk we didn't vote for independence btw. I'd be really upset watching the NZ or Canadian evening news just now.

Earlier on I saw on social media the phrase "bet he votes Tory" used as an insult. Direct evidence of political intolerance we know and love.

Every cult needs a bogeyman/devil/nemesis.

I consider it both a badge of honour and a testament to the lack of intellect of the average SNP supporter that, without any knowledge of my politics and judging me only by what I was wearing and that I refused to be drawn on whether I was voting Yes or No in the referendum, an SNP activist called me a 'fking Tory' in public.

Also the reason why everyone who is not part of their cult has to be labled Tory - hence 'red Tory'. Just wondering how long before they find a Tory-related moniker for the Greens.....

How long until it dawns on them that the political party they worship is aptly named the "tartan tories" by some?

So latest oil tax revenues for 2015/16 confirmed

MINUS £24m which is worse than the forecasted £55m earlier this year.

Reasons for the fall
1. Oil price low
2. Significant decommissioning costs which apparently are going to be increasing over the next twenty years!
3. Westminsters cut in the tax they have to pay/UK investing in the industry.
4. Higher extraction costs

Now who said in Sept 2014 that it's bizarre that some on the No camp think Oil is a burden and not a benefit. It is a benefit and doesn't build up our budget it is a bonus.... O'really!!!

So another year rUK is massively subsidising Scotland not fair is it.

Surely the tweed plus fours were a bit of a giveaway though? Or were you also wearing a Tammie festooned with badges to mess with them? biggrin

Anything other than a shell-suit and trainers would have qualified me for the abuse I reckon.

Is anyone watching Mr Salmond trying to argue for another referendum on this How Should I Vote programme on BBC1?

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than deliberately spend time listening to that divisive tt.

What a terrible programme; st sound, no crowd control and effectively no compère. Half the time you couldn't hear what was being said.

BBC Debate.

Interesting point made by AJ about visas - i.e. if the leavers want to keep out polish plumbers, how do they single out them from tourists etc.

The UKIPer when asked would there be visas to address this ducked the issue and said we don't know as cameron hasn't told us. LOL. Beyond lame!

I'd guess the same way we do now for people who arrive on tourist visas; they can't get NI numbers so the only work available is black. It's not a perfect solution but short of fortress/police state britain there aren't many alternatives, most people are not content to live off the grid and life without an identity is increasingly difficult in modern britain.

Well as much as I dislike his politics he certainly has good taste in ladies. However his morale compass is sadly lacking having an affair as an upstanding member of the community.
