Life expectancy varies greatly across Scotland. Glasgow has the lowest life expectancy in Scotland (that's why a lot of life insurance and annuity providers give different rates to people based on their postcode.

The UK's life expectancy is 81 and Russia has the lowest life expectancy in. Europe at 71.

Life expectancy in Scotland is 76.8 for males and 80.9 for females, but as I say with considerable regional variation.

IIRC there's postcodes a few miles apart, if not adjacent, in Glasgow where life expectancy varies by decades. Might be the same in most cities.

Unfortunately the SNP can't fix that as we're not independent.

You're right there are areas with differing life expectancies just a few miles apart - but by a year or two, not by decades. Remember too these are average life expectancies.

Same is true across the rest of the U.K.

You are quoting national average 'burger. Stesco isn't. Your ability to interpret language and statistics is demonstrably lacking.

He's definitely not wrong. I remember Yessers liking to divide Scotland down into smaller constituencies to 'prove' their Yessness at the referendum.

What's good for the goose etc. Council wards in Glasgow e.g. Shettleston, Possilpark, Anderston have life expectancy well below 70. 55 is much closer. Partly due to the young drug deaths no doubt, but still.

ETA I wonder if the Scottish Resistance and assorted other mentalists boycotting Tunnocks will be so principled if one of them or theirs needs help and the Tunnock Lifeboat is the only one available...?

I wonder if collectively they have even earned £250k. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotla...

"There are ghosts sitting in the Cottage bar in Glasgow's Calton area. The locals call them the missing generation, the men who died before their time. Sometimes the drinkers dip their heads or lift their pints to them. They may not see them but all the drinkers know they are there. Jimmy, Swifty, Davy and many more.

For here in this multi-deprived inner city area, the average life expectancy of a male is just 53.9 years. In Iraq, after 10 years of sanctions, a war and a continuing conflict, suicide bombs and insurgency, the average man has a good chance of making it into his 60s; the life expectancy of a male there is 67.49. In Iran it is 69.96, in North Korea, 71.37 and in the Gaza Strip it is 70.5."

Really?! You have such a superiority complex, don't you?

To keep your wee cheeks cosy, have a look at this: http://www.scotlandscensus.gov.uk/NRSinteractiveda...

For that doesn't satisfy you I'll show you some actuarial statistics.

When I worked on some NHS projects up in Scotland there was some research that showed the Scots had the worst physical health in western Europe and the Best Mental Health in Western Europe.

Ooh can I join in?

Yeah, Scots are so unhealthy. They all die young and they have smelly armpits and bad breath.

Have I done that right?

Well, yes and no. It's generally accepted custom to present an opinion or interpretation of fact, then back this up with some evidence. I've grown not to expect this from you.

Did you notice that you called two people wrong on this page who then provided evidence to the contrary? hehe
